which of the marriott timeshares/ resorts have the best pools for 13 and 10 yr olds?

Hi all, have been away from the boards for a while. Me and the kids will accompany DH on a business trip to Orlando June 13- 17. Since there are 5 of us and no discount codes for our dates we are looking at off site. The marriott resorts look nice but I can't get any specific info about their pools. Our 4yr old is easy to please, but the older ones will want a slide, etc. Any suggestions?

you have a decision - Horizons would appeal to your youngest ones.

but I think Cypress Harbour would appeal to your older ones....

also the Sabal Palms and Royal Palms, and Imperial Palms get to use the pools at Marriott World Center.

the new section of Grande Vista has a slide with a pool - but again I think it will appeal to little ones more.

Thanks for the quick reply Spiceycat. You see my dilemma! The web sites really don't say much about the pools, which for us will be a big factor in our decision of where to stay. Anyone else stayed at either of these properties can clue me in? Thanks!

Cypress Harbor has 3 pools. One a smaller, quiet pool. Two larger ones. I don't recall any slides. One has a bubble area with bubbles coming from the bottom of the pool.
Horizons has one pool so far. On one side is a pirate ship with one or two small slides on it. But these slides are really for younger kids. They also have a separate water play area. The kind with water guns, and big buckets that dump water on people. They also had a really nice mini golf course, although is wasn't free. I believe you could either pay per round, or buy a pass good for the entire family for the length of stay.
I don't recall the pools at Royal Palms, Sabal Palms, and Imperial Palms very much. I think they tend to be regular leisure pools. However, as spiceycat mentioned, these resorts have access to the Marriott Orlando World Center hotel pool (on the same grounds). Don't recall if it had a slide or not. (Probably did). It did have waterfalls.
Grand Vista has at least 4 pool areas. Two are of the leisure pool type. Two are more elaborate with multiple pools. The one I spent the most time at did not have a slide. Didn't spend much time at the newest pool area, and can't recall if it had a slide or not.

Thanks for the info dvc john. We usually stay on-site so I really am clueless about other properties. We stayed at Hi family suites for a few days one year and thought it was great but since they have renovated they've become too $$ for this trip. Anyone have any suggestions?

They also have a separate water play area. The kind with water guns, and big buckets that dump water on people. Water Works is currently under re-construction & will open later in Aug 05 (it will have a Zero Entry Pool adjoining it along with a 14 ft slide)

That sounds great but will be there in June, so we will miss out on that. There are so many timeshare condos, it's tough to choose.

are you going to WDW? then I would pick Sabal Palms. - it is the closest to WDW.

if you are going to SW or US/IOA - then Cypress Harbour or Horizons.

they are both near SW.

and my kids will be 7.5 and a few months over 3 when we travel.

I've been looking at a number of options and I'm torn between Cypress Harbor, Grand Vista and Horizons. We're hoping to do at least 1 day w/o the parks so I'd like something fun for the kids, and I like the idea of a bit more luxury for dh and me.

Of these three options, which do you think is better for me with the youngish kids?

Went to Redweek like you suggested and there are a few opportunities there. I'll have to join to be able to contact the owners, but there is a 30 day free trial so I can do that and then cancel afterwards.

We are scheduled to check into the Marriott Cypress Harbor in Dec. Does anyone know how far, (how long), it is from there to WDW? I have a 13 year old, so hopefully there will be a lot for her to do. Thanks. Debby

if you use I4 - DD is the next exit - so anywhere from 10 to 15 minutes (might be less) - unless there is a traffic problem - then it can take much, much longer.

I go ID and it take 20 minutes.
