Can anybody tell me which beach on the Atlantic side is the best and the easiest way to get there from WDW? Also where to park? We would like to visit a beach for the day.

Thanks

Hawk

Cocoa Beach is a nice beach for the day. You just take 528 the Beeline(or as it is known now Beach line) to the coast. There are several tolls near the airport.

I haven't been to Cocoa Beach but go to Daytona Beach frequently. I4 to US92 (International Speedway Blvd) to A1A. A little over an hour from Disney.

There is plenty of paid parking along the beach, the option of driving and parking on the beach for $5.00 a day or there is a free public parking lot provided by the county. That lot is not real big so you may or may not find an open space there.

If you are a NASCAR fan you can also check out Daytona International Speedway and the exhibits there on the same day.

Cocoa is close to Cape Canaveral so you could check out the space center while there.

Have fun whatever way you go.

I also frequent Daytona....

Just take I-4 till the end and follow the signs to the beach. Lots of parking (even on the beach!), shopping and good restarunts, make it a fun day away from the parks. I also recomend the Gulf side also, if you are into shopping and dining.

We went to Daytona in 1998. Cars drove up and down the beach, stirring up the sand. It gave me a new meaning to eating a Sand wich. I did not enjoy this beach. The teenage children sat in the van waiting for us to leave.

Once we left we headed a little east and found a state park. There was hardly anyone there. Very nice. I have forgotten the name though.

Since that trip we spend a few days each trip at Disney Vero Beach resort which is south of Daytona. We also spend about 3 days in Destin Florida.

Our favorite is Destin Florida. It is in the panhandle.

I suggest to find a state park on the beach. The ones I went to are very clean, really nice walkways to the beach (Destin). It might cost a couple of dollars to get in but you will have parking, bathrooms, picnic tables and much more. I found the ones we have went to at wwww.floridastateparks.com

Have fun

If you want a park beach with no businesses around, you can't do much better than Canaveral Shores Nat'l Seashore, which is reachable from either Cocoa or Daytona. Here's the website: http://www.nps.gov/cana/

FYI on the Cocoa approach; the far reaches of Playalinda Beach (major hike from nearest parking) are used by many as a nude beach area. You have to walk a long way to get to that area, or approach it by kayak, so you are unlikely to stumble across it unless you really like walking.
