Which New Country Would U Add To Epcot?

Afghanistan. The US, ex Soviet Union, Al Qaeda and Taliban have absolutely hammered this country, and I would love to know WHY???? The food couldnt be THAT bad could it?

Well, it's not a country - but it's a CONTINENT!!

The whole thing could be freezing cold, set up in a cool research lab setting, penguins nipping your ankles! Things about Global Warming and the life of Polar Bears. Can you eat caribou?

Okay - so we go in August. I need a break from the heat!

I remember seeing a video that the World Showcase is built based on if a country wants to contribute financially, historically and food wise. Alot of the countries mentioned did not, therefore they went with the countries you see today. I don't know how much that would change but I too would love to see Greece and Egypt just from the historical standpoints. Unfortunatley, I think Ireland is represented by Raglan Road.

Finish the Africa pavilion as originally designed by Imagineering.

Here are my picks in order.

1. Greece
2. Austraila
3. Russia
4. Egypt
5. India

I think that Switerland is nice but that region is already represented by Norway. If you put in switerland than why not holland.

While agree that yes Switzerland would be good, it is Germany that represents that region not Norway, Norway is quite a bit further North and a Scandanavian country and I don't think very similar in culture. I liked the idea of a Matterhorne type ride though! That would be cool! (only slightly less shaky than the DL version:sick: )

2.Egypt...I think a pyramid would be cool to visit inside with a water ride inside to see the tombs of the disney pharroh:scared1:

3.Scotland...I have a thing for men in Kilts and the accent does me in every time....maybe have stonehenge and the haggis dish (although i wouldn't eat it)

I like the Egypt suggestion - a fast boat trip down the nile to see the sights! That would be excellent.

Although, while I appreciate your vote for Scotland :cheer2: we are already represented as we are part of the UK, although we don't have a big presence (in the shop they sell shortbread and pringle jumpers I think). I agree there should be more men in kilts - my husband looks great in his!!!:lovestruc

Oh and I'm not being sarcastic or anything but just for your info Stonehenge is in England right down the very very south of the country. Although they do have a very similar version in Orkney (I think) so you were almost right!

Personally I'd have to go with Peru or Chile or Bolivia, somewhere in South America and Russia would be good too.

Am I the only one on here that knows that Switzerland and Norway aren't the same country, nor are they even all that close to each other? :lmao: They're one very big country and one medium sized country, not to mention a decent sized body of water away??????????????

Also, Scotland isn't a pavillion because, geography 101- Scotland is a part of the UK aka United Kingdom- consisting of Britain, Scotland... Northern Ireland...
It would be like having the American pavillion and then having a Califnoria pavillion, lol.

I love the idea of Egypt, especially a water ride. Greece and Switzerland aren't a part of my favorite ideas because although they are very beautiful, and I love both countries, I just feel like there are too manny European countries represented here already. I would also love to see Australia, Brazil, maybe even a Polynesian pavillion?

I think Australia would be a much better match for AK. No offense to the Aussies on here, but I think even they would have to agree that Australia offers very little, culturally, that isn't already represented in WS by UK and USA.

So, definitely Australia for AK, and I think I'd like to see something entirely different in WS. No more Europe, but something completely different. Maybe a South American country (Peru, Brazil), or India. Maybe Greece.

Sorry to 'burst your bubble' but if they do Antartica, all you'll see are penguins & insects (maybe an occassional albatross). :confused3 Polar bears and Caribou are in the Arctic, Penguins in Antarctic. They'll just need to make sure there's a fair bit of land under the ice - if global warming goes to the extremes then the land mass under Antartica may just start to appear (but by then WDW will be under water anyway... )

No offense taken, but I'd assume an Aussie Pavillion would feature more of our indigenous culture than the 'mainstream'. But I would agree with you that we'd probably be a beter fit for AK. A walking trail through the different climatic regions of Oz, all populated with our native wildlife, finishing with an open plain full of kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, emus etc. Maybe they should go in partnership with Australia Zoo on it - and give the whole 'Croc Hunter' experience??? (r.i.p. Steve) Maybe that'd just be a bit OTT though! ;)

No you're not the only one - you just pretty much repeated what I said in my post above yours. ;)

As for there being too many European countries already, thats a shame you think that, especially given that Europe is a continent made up of a group of completely different and diverse nations whose countries would still have loads to offer World Showcase. For example, Greece is so different from the UK and Germany that it could just aswell be included instead of somewhere like Egypt. (Although I do personally think Egypt would be great!)

But anyway, enough of that. I think this is such a great post - can't wait to go back next month.

You seem very keen to correct everyone elses georgraphy so if I were you, I'd look up my own basic georgaphy. The UK actually consists of England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales. The official name of our country is the United Kingdoms of Great Britain hence the reason why we sometimes get called Britain aswell. I think you got England confused with Britain and the poor welsh didn't even get a look in! ;)

If it were going to be a European country, I think Spain would be a nice choice. However, I would like to see some branching out as well. Brazil would be nice, as would India and Egypt. :thumbsup2

You all have great ideas...but there are a few major factors that need to be present....

The big factor....can Disney market the pavilion??

Egypt/India - great architecture...Taj Mahal/Pyramids
Austraila -Sydney opera house
Russia -- St Petersburg Place/Red Square

another factor....food...It will need to have TS & CS
India
Greece
Austraila
These all have recognisable food/dishes

I believe that Egypt is similar to Morocco (not sure)

I know there are other factors too..

Seems a lot of you would like an aussie pavillion BUT are you ready to eat our Vegemite Sandwiches for lunch????? Afraid I haven't met many non-aussies who're willing to touch the stuff, let alone actually like it. (Personally I love it on fresh bread, but SPARINGLY). I s'pose the trade-off is that you'd get tim-tams, lamingtons and pavlova for dessert! Mmmmmm Mmmmmmm
