May or October departing from Orlando?

I just told my mother about our plans to see if I can get her to join us and she refuses to go in October because its hurricane season.

Well, if your mother refuses to join you in October, and you want her to come along, then I guess the best month is May.

Sayhello

May & October are our 2 favorite months for cursing with Disney. Push come to shove we'd pick October, weather is still good :beach:, plus we get to hit the F&WF at WDW before & after our cruise. :dance3:

I'm debating the same thing. What makes October weather better than May?

I would choose October because the weather is fairly decent and there is all the Halloween celebrations which are not to be missed!! :wizard:

The water in the Bahamas/CC is warmer. :thumbsup2

I was going to say the same. It's already warm and about to begin cooling down, but in May it is just starting to get warm.
You really could be happy with either, but I just love vacationing in October.

I have cruised to the Bahamas in Sept, Oct and May and I definitely prefer Sept/Oct for a Bahamas cruise. Like you said the water is warmer. We are considering a Caribbean cruise for 2014. I have been to Cozumel in May and the water was very warm. I'm just wondering what month would be better for a Caribbean cruise.

so good to read this. We've been on four Disney cruises (Nov, Feb, Feb. and May) We are leaving on our next one in a few weeks in October. I have to say we LOVED May. It was by far the best weather we'd had of all the cruises but do to scheduling conflicts chose Oct. for this cruise. Hoping it was the right choice. I don't think you can go wrong with either. I can say I love to take photos and the weather in May was bright blue skies. I've heard October is warmer water temps but much more gray. Hoping for the best though!

We went to western Caribbean in Oct of 2011 and are going again in 3 weeks! Weather was great, just the daily short rain storm.

If you are seeking warm waters/weather it generally doesn't matter for those southern ports of call within the Caribbean. All will be warm, including the water. Some islands do have a raining season though.

I would check weather for each island and find out the raining season. That may influences my dates. Islands can be dry and unbearably hot, others are hot and unbearably wet, others a combination of the two. And, at the same time, some are both. lol. Most are wonderful whenever visited.

Glad to be of help. Lol. Not. :lmao: Good Luck

We have two rooms booked for next May. Never gone in Oct but have traveled twice in Sept. The only issue with hurricanes is the ship may not follow the original schedule of stops. On one of our Sept cruises, we went to CC before Nassau due to an approaching hurricane; did not find out about the change until after the ship left PC @19:00.
