Which Month is Best: Dec., Jan., Feb., or March?

We could afford to do a day or two more if we go during President’s week in Feb, although we would pay more per night for the room and possibly not get a good deal on tickets and dining. We were considering using the extra time for downtime at the hotel or to visit Universal. Our kids would simply be off which means more time to play with without worrying about missing school. That said, is it better to go with 7 days during a less busy time, like January, or 10 days during a busier time, like President’s week in Feb.? I think I’m losing my mind over this!

Probably depends on the age of the kids and what your school culture/attendance policy is. If we're talking kindergartners/early elementary school students I would pick the less busy time. If we're talking anyone 6th grade or older, I would stick to the school break.

They are currently in 3rd grade. So far this year, they have all had perfect attendance. Of course, this will be next year. They will still be in the elementary school and in 4th grade. We pulled them out in second grade and it was encouraged. Their teacher felt the benefits they would receive from the experience would outweigh what they would miss in class. They all had the same teacher that year, and that may not be the case next year.

I love going in Jan! I rather it be cold than unbearably hot.
the parks close early but the crowds aren't as bad so we are able to do everything.

We have stayed early December many times, usually during "jersey" week. We have stayed anywhere from Dec 3rd to 17th, and loved the decorations and lower crowds. However, we have not been back in December for at least 4 or 5 years, so there might be changes I am not aware of. I will say it was always a great time to go.
Then we switched to early Nov at least a week before Thanksgiving. We had lower crowds and it was great. You can get Halloween dec's and Christmas dec's if you time it right That was our absolute favorite time of year to visit. However, last year we had to cancel our November trip due to health reasons, and rescheduled last February. We went in Feb, 2017 from the 7th to the 17th and LOVED it. The weather was great, 70's at day. We know we were extremely lucky to get such good weather. The BTG's were almost nonexistent during our trip. We saw only 2 small ones and had no trouble at all. There were a lot of cheerleaders, but no problems there. We just did not get in line behind them.
This year we are going end of Feb/first of March. I hope we get the same great weather. I kind of like the non-decorated parks since I have visited during all the holidays before. It was kind of nice to see Disney in it's natural state LOL.
I would still rank November as #1 and February as #2 on our list of favorite times of the year.

I don't know? But we were advised to avoid President's Day like the plague, and we did. We avoided all the events (marathons, pres day, MLK day) as mentioned on several Disney sites. Look at the crowd calenders during Pres day and see what you think.

I feel silly asking, but what is a BTG? I have been before in November, but sadly made the mistake of going on Thanksgiving. It was miserable in terms of crowds and beautiful in terms of weather. I’m sure going in early November would be very different. I’d love to go at this time, but my husband is an avid hunter, so this time is pretty much out for us. On our trip earlier this year in January, we had the pleasure of seeing the parks decorated for the holidays and without the decorations as they gradually took them down.

On our January trip this year, we arrived during the marathon, but the parks were not crowded at all. It was absolutely freezing, though, on race day, which was Sunday. One of the races was actually canceled due to the cold weather. It was 36 degrees and I’m sure that was why it wasn’t very crowded. That was our day to go to Animal Kingdom, which was a mistake—brr! We left on the Sat. before MLK, and it was just starting to get busy as we were leaving.

BTG's= Brazilian Tour Groups. I guess the months of Jan and Feb are supposed to be the summer touring months for south American tour groups, mostly from Brazil.
There are numerous threads about this, so I try to avoid those months. Apparently the tour groups have slowed down due to the poor economy in Brazil.
My husband is a hunter, but he compromises. He is a bow hunter, so he can hunt for months, not just November, but I know what you mean

Thank you! We did see several foreign groups from South America while we were there in January, but I wouldn’t say it was a large amount. I would say they have slowed down by the amount we saw.
