Am planning on spending 10 days & 9 nights solo at the Wilderness Lodge (standard view w/AAA discount), but after crunching the numbers it ends up costing more than $1,215 more to stay at the WL than a moderate.

I am starting to look at moderates. I have stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter (LOVE THIS RESORT), as well as Port Orleans Riverside (was not too thrilled here) and Caribbean Beach (hated this resort). Should I give POR another chance, try Coronado Springs or just stick with my favorite, Port Orleans French Quarter?

I'm not going to be much help here.

Only you can make the decision of "if" it is worth the extra money to stay at WL. If it is, of course I would go with the WL.
If not, POFQ is my favorite Moderate with CSR being a close second!

Good Luck!

stay at the resort you enjoy. i think thats what it's all about.:thumbsup2

I was just going to post about the moderate resorts. My hubby and I, along with our 2 daughters (ages 13 and 10) are considering a moderate resort for our April vacation. Caribbean Beach is out because of a pool closure, so what else would you recommend?

Thanks

We were in the same boat
Loved POFQ Hated CB never stayed at PORS
We are staying
CSR

Good luck

Thanks everyone for your comments. This trip is a solo "belated" birthday gift and one that I am really looking forward to.

I love POR, so that's where I would stay. You didn't like CBR or POR, so don't stay at them. You loved POFQ and have yet to try CSR. I'm not sure I would take the chance of not liking a resort and then being stuck there for 10 days...that's a long time. Maybe you could split 'em up? Otherwise, I would go with what you liked before.

keep WL or try a different deluxe. You didnt like csr and por why torture yourself again with those? Part of vacation at a disney resort is to actually enjoy your resort.
May I also suggest some resort hopping? Maybe half the time at WL and then have at like OKW? Love their porches!!

How about a split stay? I know some people don't like repacking in the middle of a vacation and don't think the hassle is worth it but I think that a split stay is fun--it lets you experience more of Disney!

We enjoyed CSR--it's big but if you get a room in a building that's close to the parts of the resort that you want to experience then it doesn't feel too big.

I stayed at CSR last Dec for my solo trip... I loved it! Yes it is big but the buses were GREAT always got a seat and very short lines at bus queues. I stayed in Cabanas 9B and had a fabulous room facing the lake! Make sure to ask for the section you would like at Check in. I had requested months in advance and they were going to put me in Ranchos till I spoke up!
Pepper market is wonderful (especially if you are on the dining plan) pricey if you are not but the quality of the food if great!
I also never really felt out of place as there were many coventioneers there and it was nice to step away in the evenings from all the Disney decor. All in all I loved this resort and Will be back! :goodvibes

Another POFQ lover here!!! We stayed there in April & LOVED it. My 2 DS's liked it the best also. :cool1:

Thanks everyone for your votes & comments. After reviewing my options & costs, decided to stay at a moderate for my upcoming trip. This will save me at least $1,200 or more, which is $$ I can use to buy a new digital camera, as well as do a couple of tours (Segway & maybe 1 other), do the Deluxe Dining Plan, and give MVMCP another try.

As for the resorts, one of the big problems I had with CBR & POR was that they are so spread out (also had some other issues). My big concern about CSR is the size of it. It looks really spread out.

I was thinking of maybe doing a room only the day before at CSR (this way I get the full 10 days in the parks, etc.) not have to try and catch a 6am flight, relax, check out this resort and go to DTD, then transfer to POFQ for my 10 day stay & package. What about that?

:surfweb: My family and I loved the resort, we used the DP and loved the Pepper Market's food choices as compared the CBR (the only other resort we have stayed at):worship:

We are planning a 3rd trip for July 08, yes we have been to the world in the hot summer each time:banana: and will be staying at CS.

Im sure you will have a great trip regardless of the resort you choose, they are all very nice.

Terk -1 I think your new plan is brillant!!! One night at CSR is a great way to check it out, and then transferring to POFQ that you love for your 10 day stay will be great. CSR is, IMO, really spread out. I have not stayed there, but spent an afternoon walking around the lake and seeing the resort. It is beautiful, but big.
I think our tastes are similar. I hated CBR and it is the only Disney resort I will not go back to. I loved everything about POFQ, but most of all the size, followed by the bus transportation (first picked up, first dropped off), the themeing, the Food Court, the entire feel of the resort.
Have a Great Vacation.

I just thought that if I fly out the day before on a late morning flight, I would not have to be up at 3am to get to the airport to catch a 6am flight, could relax, wandering around the resort, check out DTD, then maybe do something for dinner, like 1900 Park Fare or Hoop Dee Doo Review.

Hoop Dee Doo is worth it if you like those kind of interactive shows. But IMO, definitely not worth it for the food though.

We love HDD and you can use the DDP if you have it. It takes 2 credits
