Which moderate resort?

My DH and 2 DS (2 and 7) are hoping to go to Disney in late August. My husband wants to stay at a moderate resort would love to stay at a deluxe but don't have the $$ right now. A moderate is also good for us because I really need a fridge for milk and don't want to pay the $$ to get one put in my room. (I read this about the value resorts) I really don't want to stay at POR because I figure next time we go we will probably have five in our family. Just in case we can't afford a deluxe then I know we will be staying at POR. Which moderate resort do you think is the best for kids with such a big age gap? I know my seven year old is going to love the pools probably the most. Of course the Magic Kingdom will be his favorite. :)
Thank you for your help.

POR is always my first choice, but since you've disqualified that resort . . .

We stayed at CSR in July and it was HOT -- the sidewalks were hot, the sand was hot, the pool decks burned your feet. I would not recommend this resort for a summer stay.

As between the other two, I think CBR would be a good fit. The only downside is that it is very spread out. That can be a challenge with a 2 year old. Otherwise, it is a lovely resort and I think your 7 yo will love the pool.

We love CSR! It's hot everywhere in FL during the month of July

CSR is a large resort that does not share services with other resorts and even offers some deluxe amenities because it is a convention resort.

CSR offers a salon, a spa, a gym that even other moderates do not offer. CSR offers an internal shuttle system provided by golf carts to assist in getting to and from the main building to the villages. Again, it is not a perfect system but it is something not offered at other resorts.

CSR has terrific transportation. It is not share with any other resort (like POR / POFQ) and it only has 4 bus stops within the resort (vs 8 at CBR).

And being a convention resort, the buses seem less crowded because guests are busy with their conventions.

CSR has the best pool of the mods and probably the second best on WDW property. Best mod pool. It offers a great slide (123 ft long), an arcade, a sand volleyball court, a playground and kiddie pool at the main pool area.

It will come down to your tastes. Good luck deciding!

Buzz2001 - in your opinion, which section/building is the best for a solo trip? I may stay there for the 2007 marathon and want quick access to the hottub. :goodvibes

cabana 8a is closest to the main pool area. Just steps away from the pool/hot tub and bus stop #4.

I'd choose CSR over CBR! We enjoyed both but CSR is so much nicer in my opinion! :earsboy:

If you can weather the additional cost (pretty sure it's still $15/night) of the preferred rooms, you'll be close to the main pool and to the food court -- they're located in the same area -- and you won't have to walk much. If you don't want to pay the extra for a preferred room, request Jamaica or Aruba -- right across a bridge from the pool and food court.

We have stayed at WL and AKL before, but we loved CBR so much last April that it's become our new favorite! White sand beaches, hammocks, breezes, boat rentals on the 45-acre lake, the food court (great choices for kids the ages of yours) and all the village pools.... transportation was good, we just loved it there!

CSR is (IMO) the best moderate and your boys will LOVE the pool and slide. Pepper Market is a great food court type restaurant, but different from the others. Lots of variety and good food!!! We stayed at CSR when our DS was 6 and at 12, he stills requests it every trip!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

CSR or CBR are the ones. I have stayed at CBR and we loved it. We requested a room near the main pool, so you wouldn't have to walk as far with the kids. They loved the pool there. Saying that, I have been over to CSR and it is fantastic. If I ever do another moderate, That is where I will try.

Goodluck

POR is our favorite but a close second is CBR. For some reason we don't enjoy CSR that much and prefer the others.

Gotta go with CSR. Themeing in Casitas and Cabanas is really nice (Did not like the Ranchos section, though). Bus service is fantastic, never waited more than 10-12 minutes and buses were never crowded (closest bus stop to the MK exits---Great feature at the end of a long day). Pepper Market, once you figure out what their doing is really good. Good food at reasonable(by WDW standards) prices.
