Which Moderate resort is closest to Epcot that you would go to?

Well..we got a free dining pin..so although we weren't planning on going this year, I am looking into it. We can't swing a deluxe this year, so I am looking at moderates. We love Epcot and thought of staying closest to here (would love to try BC, but I don't think I can swing it).

Any opinions or thoughts? Thank you!

Melissa

Caribbean Beach is definitely the closest and my personal favorite although many people don't agree. The biggest complaint people have is how big it is but choosing the right village/building will make that reason irrelevant.

I would also have to say Caribbean Beach. We stayed there last year and loved it. It is big, but picking the right village is key. Try to request Jamaica if you decide to stay there.

I'd stay at POR/POFQ or CSR. None are that far from Epcot.

These three mods have queen beds. CBR has double beds. POR/POFQ has the boat to DTD. CSR has a great pool slide, biggest hot tub on property, a gym and spa.

We just returned from our first stay at the Swan after many stays at Boardwalk and Beach Club. We had two rooms, one on a nurse's rate, and the other on a "stay connected" rate. It ended up costing around the price for a WDW moderate. There are resort fees and parking fees (if you take a car) to take into consideration, but if the numbers work for you, it is the exact location that you want at a much better price. We would definitely stay at either the Swan or Dolphin again.

CBR is the closest, although it is the only resort i've stayed at that i wouldn't go back to. POR is fairly close and by far my favorite mod. I feel it has the best food court, Yeeha Bob in the lounge, a tranquil theme and lots of great activities. POR would be my choice.

W've stayed twice at CBR, both times in the Martinique section, and loved it! We could see the higher fireworks from "Illuminations" from the pool bar area. :sunny:

Have a great time, wherever you end up staying. :)

I don't think "closeness" to Epcot matters. You have to bus to Epcot from every Moderate anyway... does it matter if one bus ride is 5 minutes longer than another?

Because of that, I'd pick the hotel based on bedding (if that matters to you - my family of 4 will not do double beds), size of resort, theme, pools, etc. NOT on location.

And like another poster suggested, I'd definitely try for the Swan or Dolphin if possible, instead of a moderate. The location to 2 parks is so worth it.

They can't use the free dining pin at Swan/Dolphin.

CBR is the closest to Epcot, and is a perfectly lovely resort. We stayed 10 days there. It was our first on site resort :goodvibes. Jamaica is a good location. The only thing is the beds aren't queens. But if it's just the 2 of you I think they have king rooms.

Have to say our fav moderate is POR riverside in the mansions. Newly refurbed rooms, boat to DTD, horse and carriage rides, inside lounge, evening entertainment. Great food court.

While CBR appears to be the physically closest moderate resort to EPCOT, that doesn't translate to CBR being any more convenient to an EPCOT entrance gate than either POFQ or POR. If getting in/out of EPCOT to/from your resort is your primary concern, CBR really doesn't give you any advantage. I'd say choose your resort based on the theming and amenities that appeal to you.

The distance would probably only be about 5 minute difference which is nothing. I would choose the resort that appeals to me such as the theme. If there was a big difference in time travel like more than 20 minutes, then yea, I would probably go with that resort, but the moderates are pretty much take about the same time. You might also fact in that CBR has 6 internal bus stop, CSR has 3 or 4, and POR has 3 or 4 and sometimes share bus with POFQ, but not all the time. I say, just choose the resort you want to stay at, the resort that you will enjoy and has appeal to you. :)

how about renting DVC points and staying at the Boardwalk? You can rationalize the difference in price by buying food for your room

Just a different thought..
and if I were to pick mod I would go with POFQ.. I think it is adorable and not huge like some of the other mods

I've stayed at the Caribbean Beach several times in the past and really liked it. I love the tropical theme of the resort.

I'm definitely in this camp. Not a huge CBR fan. Love CSR and POR

In the end, you're going to get many, many different opinions ;) If you have any questions about any of the moderate resorts ask away, everyone will have lots of tips, maybe even some solutions to the concerns you may have about any of the resorts!

Depending on if it's for August, you might just have to take whatever they have left (unless you already checked availability and all 4 have some...)
