We were going to try to rent AKV through a DVC owner for June, but now we are reconsidering because of the $$$ factor and are thinking about just staying at one of the Moderates. (We wanted something a little nicer than the Values) We have 5 people going: me, my husband, my 2 children ~ 5yr old girl and 8yr old boy, and my mother who will get a separate room if we stay at a Moderate hotel.
We want something kid friendly ~ nice pool with a water slide and a nice playground. But,we also want to take into consideration my Mom ~ who may have trouble walking long distances (she will get a wheel chair to use at the parks). So far from what I've seen on the internet I kind of am partial to CSR.
Please let me know what you all think.

Thanks, Angie

do your kids do slides often - then CSR.

if this is new to them then POFQ

I would go with Port Orleans French Quarter (POFQ) resort. The resort is really compact and comfortable. This would be a benefit to your mother and there is a cool pool for the kids.

**You also have the option of riding a boat to Downtown Disney.

You're leaning the right way! CSR for sure! It has the best pool. the best slide and a great playground located right at the main pool so you won't have to leave. The transportation is great and its not shared with another resort. The pool/slide at POFQ is good for toddlers.

CSR for me!! Best pool and slide combo of all the mods. The lifeguards play games with the kids at the pool too. The playground is large with lots of sand that the lifeguards sometimes bury stuff for the kids to dig up.

Here are some good building choices...

Cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site (main pool) over the wooden bridge. Most convenient location and most preferred.

Cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site (and playground) and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building. (Closest to the Pool)

Cabana 8b and 9a are in between the 2 above. 9a has a quiet pool.

Ranchos 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a.

Casita 3 has great courtyard and fountain views but you will have to walk or ride the internal shuttle to get to the pool.

Casita 5 has some nice fountain and lake views and is close to the Dig Site but farther from the main building.

Riverside is great. Pools, bikes, boat rentals and the boat to downtown disney is a real treat. You can always swim in the French Quarter too.

We loved CBR(that includes our 6 yr old DS) this June 6/8-6/16! We had lots of fun at the resort. We stayed at Jamaica Bldg 44 courtyard close to bus stop and near bridge to food court area.:thumbsup2

We stayed at CSR last year with my mom who needed a handicap room. We also had two young children with us. We were able to get an adjoining room. I would request it when making your reservation. We liked CSR. It's big, but easy enough for someone to get around in a wheelchair. We stayed in the Casitas near some lovely fountains. The kids loved the themed pool. The only negative was the restaurant, which we didn't think was very good. But we're spoiled as there are some excellent Mexican restaurants here in NY.

Just wanted to mention that if you want rooms that are next to each other and have a door inside that you can open to connect the rooms together, you want to ask for Connecting rooms. If you ask for adjoining rooms, they may or may not connect.

We have only been to CSR and POFQ and out of the two DS prefers CSR. Thats why we are going back there next time.

That's what I meant, sorry about the confusion. We had connecting rooms with an inside door.

We haven't stayed at CSR, but I can comment on FQ. POFQ would be great for both your kids and your mom. It's a smaller resort so less walking. My kids loved the serpant slide at the pool (cold front while we were there and there was still no keeping them out of the water!) and the arcade. They also loved the both the boat ride to DTD and Riverside. We would take the boat, grab some food and they could fish or rent a bike, then return to the more quiet FQ. The food at the FQ food court is good as well. Good luck with your planning.

we are leaving on September 6th, first time at csr. Your site made us really look forward to it. Thank you for all of your dedication and all the research that you share with everyone....We are going to ask to stay in Cabana 9b ( closest / most convenient to pepper market etc.).How soon should we call and put that resquest in? And do you normally get your request met?

We have been to Disney about 7 times ?? I think....WL/Poly/CB/POR/POP/YC (and once...NEVER agian....off-site) and so far we have been REALLLLY unsuccessful in our room requests! Except for ONCE CB and that was b/c they upgraded us from POP ...I love Disney and have absolutely not one complaint about em!will go till the day they close!!! (which will NEVER happen!!!!;0)- also we have four children (10,9,8,6) and have two joining rooms and were hoping to ask for one King bed and the other "regular - two doubles. Would they accomodate that or is it asking tooo much..? Don't care at all about that but REALLLY want to be somewhat close to the "action" ....BIG THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR FANTASTIC SITE!!!!!:yay:
