we have stayed at CBR and loved it. great theme and pool area. this was our first trip back in '96 and we absolutely loved it. CBR is a big resort, so, if you want to be close to the main pool and the food court, you want to be in Martinique(bldg 25 or 26). didn't recall illuminations being too loud from where we were. we did drive through this year while we were there and you can see the new pop century resort from CBR now.
We stayed at CSR this year and liked it for the most part. really great pool area and the food court wasn't too bad once you got used to it. transportation system was the best we've ever had on property. this is a big resort and there can be alot of walking involved. one thing that is different about this resort is that the main pool and the main food court are not in the same place like the other resorts on property(this really only makes for a problem getting refills on the drinks after 6pm--lots of walkin.) we stayed in the cabanas section, bldg 8A and found this to be a great location in reference to the bus stop, main dig site, and pepper market. This was a very nice resort and the only time we even noticed the "convention" folks were at lunch in the market. It is a little strange walking in with swimming trunks on and people are in business suits, but, oh well. I would recommend this resort.
We will be staying at POFQ for the first time in April, so, I can't help much on that one. whatever you dedice, it will be great I'm sure.

Wow it's really close. Anyone else have a vote?

I know there are more votes out there.

Funny thing is the PO-FQ & PO-R are winning. When I looked at all the mods on www.wdwig.com I though I might prefer the themeing at CBR or CSR more. Any thoughts as to why the others are winning?

I love the POFQ. The only mod I haven't stayed at is the CS but I have been out there for conferences (and will be again in Nov.) I have seen the rooms there though since friends from other colleges stay.

I like POFQ since it is not as spread out as the others also. Plus the theming is really nice and I love the streetlamps.

Ok ~ I've now stayed in 2 of the 4 Moderates, and I really loved Coronado Springs! The theming is beautiful, and I personally really didn't find it that much further to walk than at Caribbean Beach. In fact, one thing I noticed is that whereas at CBR the pool and the main building are together meaning either you're close or you've got a walk to the theme pool AND to eat, at CSR they are on opposite sides of Lago Dorado, so if you're close to one, you walk further to the other. I actually walked around Lago Dorado a few times during my visit and didn't find it that large (and I don't walk more than about 3/4 a mile each day if that at home). At CBR I never even attempted to walk all the way around...perhaps the bridge across the lake there made me think it was larger than it was, but it seemed bigger than CSR to me. If you want to be close to the main building, request Casitas 1 or 3 or Cabanas 9A or B. To be closest to the theme pool, that would be Ranchos 6B or 7A or Cabanas 8A. The bus stops appeared to be pretty equidistant around the circuit...and the busses usually stopped at Bus Stop 1 last so that if people are attending a convention and don't want to walk, they can catch a bus over to El Centro.

I've heard a lot about the PO resorts, but for some reason bayou and New Orleans theming just doesn't appeal to me personally. I really do think that the theming is all a matter of personal taste.

HTH!

I would love to have reasons with the votes if possible. :Pinkbounc

My favs in order:

1--POFQ
2--POR-AB
3--CBR
4--POR-MB

I haven't stayed at CSR--yet!

I would stay at all of them again.

1--POFQ
2--POR-AB
3--CBR
4--POR-MB

Okay I understand that POR-AB is Alligator Bayou right but what is POR-MB?

Hi Tulip!

We have stayed at POFQ and CBR and will be staying at CSR in May (convention for my FIL so we are joining them). Here's what we've noticed:

POFQ -1999
We didn't know about the DIS when we stayed there and didn't request a building or can't even remember what building we stayed in but do know it was all so quaint and close. The theming was nice and the pool really fun. My kids spent lots of time on the water slide (and it was March and cool). We had breakfast in the food court and it was never crowded. In the evening we ordered pizza a few times--really good and they had awesome ice cream sundaes (I was pregnant so it probably tasted even better!). One main bus stop..short walk and never crowded.

CBR-2002
Requested Martinique and were placed in Trinidad North. Not too far from the food court and pool (about a 5-10 minute walk compaired to about 2 minutes at POFQ). Landscaping was really pretty. Kids didn't like the pool as well. Biggest difference (besides theme) is that it is really big (I got lost twice coming back from the laundry room :). I knew that going in and but have to say didn't like it as much for that reason.

With similar sized rooms the difference really lies in the size of the resort, the thene of the resort and the pool theme. If you like large, spread out then you may prefer CBR. Smaller and more compact then POFQ. I think POR is bigger than FQ (maybe twice the size? correct me if I'm wrong) as it has Alligator Bayou and Mansions. I think if we had the choice (and no convention to meet our in laws) we would definitely stay at PO (either). Beautiful grounds, less spread out. The 7 bus stops at CBR was killer on the way back from the parks with tired kids. That plus the pool at PO being more fun for my kids..hope this helps. I do want to mention that it has been fun trying the different resorts and even though CBR wasn't our favorite we still had a great time at WDW and exploring the resort!

:) :) :)

Back from the honeymoon and bumping again. :D
