Which mod if transportation is greatest concern?

I wasn't sure if I'd get more responses here or on the resort board so I'm double posting this. ;)

My bff and I are planning our girls only trip and will be flying and therefore completely relying on Disney transport. We know we'll be staying at a mod and are torn between one of the PO resorts and CSR. We've already ruled out CB for other reasons.

It's going to be a short trip and my friend is also going to be running the Princess 1/2 marathon so timing really is everything. We want the most bang for our buck time wise, and while we both realize that no resort is going to be perfect when relying on buses we are wondering if one is better than others.

We are planning dinner twice at DTD so the water taxi from the PO resorts seems like a good idea but is it really that much of a time saver?

What about the bus situation with these resorts being so far from the parks?

What is the bus situation like at CSR?

Thanks in advance for any help! :goodvibes

In the past, I researched this on the web and found that CSR had the shortest times on buses. I can't remember the website. At CSR, b/c of conventions, not everyone will be riding the buses, especially during the day. When we stayed at CSR we had no problems.

If transportation was my major concern, I probably wouldn't stay at a mod at all - I would save my money and stay at Pop. If you're really set on a mod, though, I don't think there's enough difference in transportation to use that as a basis for a decision.

Thanks! Saving money is definitely something to take into consideration.

If transportation is your greatest concern flip a coin. Or rent a car.

Yeah, kind of a snippy response. Seriously, you'll find people who rave about the bus service from a particular resort and those that rant about it. Both talking about the exact same dates. It doesn't seem to matter what resort we are talking about, the transportation experiences vary greatly.

If you are concerned about spending a lot of time waiting for busses, you may be a good candidate for renting a car.

I guess I should have clarified that we were leaning toward POFQ due to the water taxi but were concerned that since it was further away we'd be spending a lot of time on the buses. *shrug*

Thanks for the responses.

Thanks for the responses.

Thanks for the clarification, it helps us give you better advice.

Keep in mind that the water taxi is only to/from Downtown Disney. You'll probably only go there once (twice?) during your stay.

For the theme parks you'll need to take a bus and you'll find that the transit time for those buses isn't significantly different from the various resorts. Sure, if you're staying at All Star, the trip to the MK will be longer than if you were at POFQ, but probably only a few minutes. And the trip from POFQ to AK will be longer for you than those staying at All Star. Again, that's the extreme.

Since you're only considering moderates, all three (PO, CBR & CSR) are similar distances from the various parks so I wouldn't expect a lot of difference in transit time.

As an AP holder I go to WDW 4-6 times a year and have pretty much settled on the moderates as my resorts of choice. Even though I love the boats to DTD, I'd give the bus service at CSR the edge. We've always gotten really good bus service at CSR no matter the time of year we've been down there. I'd rank POFQ second, PORS third, and CBR a very distant fourth as far as bus service goes. Due to conventioneers at CSR being in meetings all day, they leave the buses for us. Granted I always leave the resort fairly early in the mornings, but in eight stays at CSR I've never had to stand on a bus in the mornings and they always come fairly quickly. However, POFQ also has pretty good bus service and even though it shares with PORS, POFQ is usually the first stop. Bus service at PORS and CBR has always been very spotty though and once it was so bad at PORS all week that everyone was going to guest services inside the resort to complain.

I have stayed at Carribean Beach and POFQ. We loved the bus service at POFQ. We were there during April vacation for the northeast so it was busy. We only shared a bus once with POR and that was later in the day. the buses came quickly and it didn't feel like it took a long time to get to our destinations at all. MK was so quick to get to.

We are so partial to POFQ b/c we love how small it is. Quick walk to anything, buses right there. We even took the boat to POR to eat in their food court for dinner once or twice. But the POFQ food court was fine for us.
