OK...since we will no longer be staying at values (another thread on this) we are considering a split stay between a moderate and a deluxe next year. We have never stayed at any of the moderates before. I have toured both CBR and CSR.....CBR does nothing for me so that one is out. CSR was very pretty..BIG though! I know POR is almost as big and POFQ is the smallest.

Here are some things I am considering:

DH REALLY enjoys a good meal whether it be a juicy burger, nice piece of fish or a great steak. He is a WONDERFUL cook and when he is on vacation he likes to enjoy nice meals. We eat at least one meal a day at our resort....sometimes 2 depending on how the day goes.

Kids enjoy a nice pool and LOVE water slides.

I love finding a peaceful spot in the a.m. to enjoy a quiet cup of coffee.

Efficient transportation is a MAJOR PLUS!!! ;)

Comfortable beds will make all of us happy!

My thought now is CSR. I have always wanted to stay at one of the PO resorts as well but I keep going back to CSR this time.

Thoughts, opinions, experiences?????

Thanks!

Kim

If you're a foodie go with CSR. Pepper market is nothing short of amazing with their food choices. Plus, it has real coffee, I actually didn't suffer from the withdrawl I usually do on a disney trip. :snooty:

Both have awesome pools, but IMHO the walking is worth it for the atmosphere and the real coffee.

OMG!!! Are you saying that I do not have to suffer through a cup of Nescafe?????? SOLD!!! LOL Funny...I think what is just as bad as the Nescafe is the Creamora 1/2 and 1/2 the resorts have. At WL they has "true" coffee creamer in a dispenser as well as the 1/2 and 1/2....the real coffee creamer made a big difference!!!! I ALMOST enjoyed my coffee...well, I did enjoy my coffee but more because I was sitting in the gorgeous WL lobby...that makes ANYTHING taste good! :lmao:

Now I have another question. Usually we so a split stay...value to deluxe. For obvious reasons we much prefer the deluxe. Is it worth doing a split stay when staying at a moderate? We LOVE deluxe resorts but I would have no problem staying in 1 place next trip if the accommodations were great!

CSR will give you everything you asked for, in my opinion. I agree that the Pepper Market is very good with lots of choices. Also, the pool and slide are wonderful, the bus service is exceptional and grab your coffee and head for a hammock on the beach. Sounds like it was made for you. CSR is in our top 2 resorts at Disney World, including the deluxes. Have a great time!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Thanks for your input!! I have a question though....I noticed in your signature that you will be staying at a few deluxe resorts soon....Since we usually split our stay with the last 2-3 nights being at a deluxe, should we still consider it? I understand that you think that CSR would be great for us....are you staying at other resorts for something "different" or for a "deluxe" experience?

Thanks so much!

I say give POR a try--it is a beautiful, romantic Resort with
a wonderful TS restaurant with a good menu selection.
I thought the CS choices were wonderful--we would eat
there everyother night when we returned from the parks.
There are Horsedrawn Carriage Rides.
The Landscaping is very lush and the boat ride to DTD is so Fun
and conveniant. This is a quiet resort and very layed back feel.
POFQ is also a wonderful MOD and if you stay there you can
easily walk to the POR TS restaurant. POFQ is the smallest of
the MODS. I love the Hot Tub at POFQ the best.
Both POR and POFQ have Great Pools and you can use either of the
pools if you stay there.

On our 1st WDW trip we stayed at CSR and it was very nice but
on our 2nd trip we picked POR and was truely impressed.
My DH who knows nothing about the different levels of resorts
thought that I had paid extra to stay at a Deluxe Resort.
He was comparing his CSR stay to POR stay.
He couldn't believe POR was also a MOD when I told him.
Even my DS (11 yrs.) was at 1st upset that we were trying a
different resort but for our next trip when I asked where we should
stay he very quickly said POR Or POFQ, no hesitation--he really loved both pools
and the boat ride.

another vote for CSR... we have stayed at POR, POFQ and CSR... like them all but love the Pepper Market.... and if you are on the dining plan you can get a steak (and it was grat tasting) as a COUNTER SERVICE credit..... portions are huge and very good......

Dixie Landings, now known as Port Orlean Riversides, would be my recommendation.

We have only stayed at the CSR so it is our choice. We have gone to all the others for a visit. We did not like the Caribbean at all and thought the food at the food court was only fair. We went to both the POR and POFQ last year to examine whether we wanted to try one of those. If we were to stay at one of them, the POFQ would win hands down because it is a much quieter resort. The POR was way too noisy for us, we had the worse dinner ever at Boatwright's and could not stand the noise from the piano player (couldn't even hear ourselves talk amongst each other). The Pepper Market at the CSR has great choices (although I will admit the portions are huge--I usually get a chicken ceasar salad and am lucky to eat half of it). We have only done the Maya Grill for breakfast once and it was okay. We love the "quiet" pools and the Dig Site. It is a large, sprawling resort, but we stay in Casitas 4 or 5 and it takes an average of five minutes for me to walk to the main building or the Dig Site pool-although I am a fast walker. It probably takes my husband closer to ten minutes (he often will catch a ride in one of the golf carts while I walk because I love walking). The kids will love the Dig Site pool.

CSR! You won't find a bigger selection of food. Where else can you get a rib eye or prime rib at a counter service. :lovestruc

I would choose POR; even the food at the Food Court is excellent!!! And, the resort is lovely!!! Definitely, one of my favorite resorts!!!

Another vote for POR. I think the food court is great (I believe it just got done being refurbished about a month ago)!

I noticed that you stated that you like a nice quiet walk in the morning. Well, that is one of the top reasons why I keep returning to POR. I get my tea or coffee in the morning and enjoy my stroll back to my room. The grounds have a nice, crispy, dewy smell, plus the small critters (ducks, rabbits) make it feel like you are walking through the bayou. Nice peaceful and earthy smelling. I love it!

I like the food court & Boatwrights. The choices are great at Boatwrights, they have some great pancakes and also standard eggs, bacon of course with grits and biscuits!! yummmm

I have not stayed everywhere but I've stayed at POFQ and POP. It's been 4 years since I stayed at POFQ and this XMAS when I stayed at POP I eat at the food court. I ordered the chicken parm or something with a marinara sauce. It had a very distinct taste, and I was not terribly fond of it. I guess that is just my finicky taste, but the thing I found a bit disturbing was that it was the same taste that I experienced 4 years earlier at POFQ food court.

Similar Expererience when I ordered Lobster bisque and Counc Steakhouse and then again at Le Cellier. Didn't like it either place and the odds were pretty good since they were exactly the SAME, almost like it was out of a can.

That being said, I have had many good experiences at the resorts, including the steak at CC Steakhouse and Le Cellier, but I will say that I would not recommend the food at POFQ. Average at best. I have heard great things about the CSR.

I would pick CSR over all the other mods! :thumbsup2 You won't find a better food selection or choices.

Another vote here for POR. We have 2 kids and my oldest LOVED the water slide...in fact, that was the reason we picked the POR...because of the slide. :) The food court has many choices for kiddos and adults and the food is delicious. PLUS, the scenery is so beautiful. Have a great trip!

Thanks guys!! We will have to really think about this....but I think it will be CSR!! The food court looks great and I am sure my dh will love it!

POR/POFQ because it has the best location out of all the mods since it is by the MK
