We will be arriving at Disney late August and will be staying at 2 rooms at the ASMO for our first 8 nights. I was thinking about requesting the Mighty Ducks because the kids have been into watching the movies lately.. Has anyone who's stayed there have any suggestions on which building and location to ask for. Is the ground floor the best? Since we will swim alot , which rooms are closest to the pool???

Thanks

We had a great room in Mighty ducks...faced the courtyard area and was quiet, yet close to the MD pool and not too far from the hotel bus stop......it was ground floor. Some people like to be up but we don't.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have another question. What is the differnce between the Fantasia pool and the Ducks pool beside the themeing. How deep are they?? Are there any interactive featues in either or are they just basic pools??

Thanks

If Im not mistaken, when you enter the MD pool area, the building on your right is nonsmoking and the one on the left is smoking, so that might make the decision for you, one way or the other. We stayed in the one on the right on the backside. It wasnt far to the pool, and we often used the bus stop at ASMU since it was just as close and we had a better chance of getting a seat there. Our biggest reason for preferring the Fantasia pool is because we would usually go there during our midday break and want to grab drinks and snacks too. Therefore the Fantasia pool was more convenient to the food court. But as for the pools themselves, we like the MD theme. Im not sure about the depth, as my kids are little so we just stayed at the low end of both.

Our family stayed at the ASMo in the Mighty Ducks section in
May 03. Our room was on the back side of one of the MD buildings facing a courtyard. It was very close to a parking lot which made it very convenient to our car. This was important because we drove to all of the parks except for the MK so the bus transportation was not much of an issue. We found the MD section to be much more peaceful than the other sections because there was very little "people" traffic moving around this section. The main pool is noisy virtually every minute that it is open and we were very thankful that we were away from it. The MD pool is pretty shallow (max depth was about 5' so it was perfect for small children) This section is also close to a laundry facility, too.

Our favorite part was coming back from the parks. Every day, housekeeping would place our kids' stuffed animals in situations such as sitting on the bed, ordering a pizza or sitting around the sink using our kids' tooth brushes to brush their teeth.

As a whole, we really enjoyed our experience at the ASMo, Mighty Ducks building...

Hope you have a great time!!!

We also stayed in Mighty Ducks and the both buildings seemed pretty close to the pool to me but then we never swam so I guess that I'm a bad judge. ;)

One nice thing is that the Mighty Ducks buildings are a relatively short walk from the main building at the Allstar Music. We often wound up going over there to get food and catch the bus.

Thanks for all the input. I think I will request the non-smoking Mighty Ducks building, ground floor. Does anyone think I will have a problem getting the request. It seems like I don't hear much about people requesting it. It should be a nice surprise for the kids. They don't know there are Mighty Ducks buildings. What are the negatives of being on the ground floor??

Thanks

MD is the building that my DS wants also. Does anyone remember if there is a playground near this building? DD will want to play in Andy's room but if there is another playground nearby she might be persuaded to come to the other end. I like the quiet sections better too. Sending the Mug Men to Music is a good idea. Did you just get the Music mug instead of the Movies one? Or do the All Stars mugs all look alike? I always like to get a mug from our hotel and then I can use it all year at home.

We purchased mugs at the Allstar Music food court since we were close by and I thought that they were cute. I wandered over there most mornings to fill them and almost always saw bunnies on the way.

Right next to the Mighty Ducks are the Dalmations buildings. There were quite a few icons and things in their courtyard too but no actual playground. And of course, you have the pool and laundry in the Mighty Ducks courtyard. Here's a map: http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/allstarmovie.JPG

You can see the Dalmations buildings on the bottom side of the Mighty Ducks and Melody Hall just above. We were in the left hand side buildings on the back facing a wooded area.

We stayed in the MD building in Nov '02, because my son is hockey crazed. The hockey theme is displayed throughout, with the pool painted like a hockey rink, with goofy on one side of the pool as a goalie in front of a huge hockey net (I think Donald Duck is on the other). The outside of the building has huge hockey sticks spanning the different floor levels, as well as huge hockey pucks, and a big score board. I don't remember the room number but we stayed on the second floor (I just like the better view, and there is less foot traffic), and our room (and building)faced the walking path coming from the lobby. I'm sure you will enjoy !

njdizneygal, I cant believe this didnt click the first time I read your post. We too will be there for the last week of August, and in 2 room. Maybe we will see you!

We will be there Aug 23rd until Sun 31st. After that we transfer to the Poly for 2 nights to rest and relax.

Camcolt, do you request a certain floor or just a building. How old are your children?? Mine are 4,7 and 9.. I like the idea of using ASMU for the bus service. I figure when we leave the parks we can catch either bus.
