I'm calling today to make my reservations for our first Fort Wilderness vacation. I am so excited!!!:cool1: I am trying to decide between premium or preferred, but am leaning towards premium because of the sand issue. We have 6 kiddos and I like the idea of them not tracking in as much sand. ;) I need some help with which loop to request though. I would *like* to be as close to the pool and campfire program as possible, as I see us spending alot of time at both of these activites. Which loop would you suggest? Thanks for the help!!:)

We stayed in the 900 loop last trip, its close to the pool and Preminum. Check out the Satelite view at the beginning of this forum, its on google and has a link. It will give you a good idea of the loops..

We like 1400(little bear) ,close to comfort station....really close to the campfire and the pool.

I too dispise sand, thus I have a 9 day resi for premium.

We have requested loop 800 pri, and loop 1400 secondary, for the exact same reason you listed.

The only thing about 1400 is that some sites are awfully close to the campfire/movie place. I have a pop-up and was assigned the 1400 loop back in March and asked to go to 900 instead because I didn't want to hear the movie as I laid down to go to sleep.

But 900, 600, even 1000 are close enough to qualify.

I guess I'm the one that always rains on the "pick the loop" parade.

I still believe pick your level of site depending on your preferences (like premium for no sand as you have) the just tell them what amenities you would like. Let the site assigner do his magic and pick the perfect loop for you.

When you make your reservations let them know you would like to be as close to the meadows as possible, not a specific loop. JMHO

This is a long debate on which loop is the best. The best thing to do is during your trip, do some "looping" to see what you prefer. We always request a premium like others since we hate the sand. I have OCD at times and hate the sand being tracked into the trailer. For us we prefer the backside of the 800 loop. It's far enough away from the main road so the buses don't keep you up, there is a huge pet walking path behind you and hardly ever do you see people using it so it feels more private. 9 times out of 10 we luck out getting the 800 unless it is closed for repairs. We have a golf cart so proximity to the marina or pool does not matter, however, 800 is a short distance to the pool/campfire. Even the marina is not too far of a walk

We had a shoe basket outside our tent and it worked amazingly well. Everyone had to remove their shoes and wipe their feet on the mat before entering. We had to remind our 11 year old from time to time but the 5 year old took the rule and ran with it. We did not have a sand problem in our tent, but they did love playing in the sand.
