Hi Everyone!!!
I am going camping at the Ft in the middle of May, and i am planning on just tenting it. So i was just wondering what the best loop would be for me, if any one had any suggestions. I would like to be kinda central to everything. I just need a basic site only, no cable or anything. So any suggestions would be really appreciated!!! TIA!!!:flower3:

There are 3 levels of campsites at Fort Wilderness:

Standard, which includes electric and water This includes the 1500 and 2000 loops.

Full Hook Up, which includes electric, water and sewer (most of them are this way) This includes the 900, 1000, 1100, 1200, 1300, 1600, 1700, 1800, and 1900 loops.

Preferred, which includes electric, water, sewer and cable TV. As of the summer of 2005 high speed internet access was added to the preferred loops. The preferred sites are also in loops situated closer to the settlement which includes the marina, beach, restaurant, and many other activities. The preferred loops include the 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800 and 1400 loops.

The preferred and full hook up sites provide a full length concrete parking pad for the tow vehicle and camper. Behind that is a compacted sand/gravel pad on which you will find a full sized picnic table.

On the standard sites you will find a smaller concrete pad and larger sand/gravel pad. Also on each site is a charcoal grill.

Now, with all that said - you probably only want a standard (water/electric) site, so this will be the 1500 or 2000 loops. The 2000 loop is larger and a little more remote from the action, while the smaller 1500 loop is directly across the street from the meadows and main pool.

I would go with the 1500 loop. It is so close to everything.

I agree with the 1500 loop. Have been tent camping there twice and found it both quiet and convenient. Bus stop at end at loop and pool right across road ! Enjoy....

We have requested loop 1500 our last 2 trips, one this past early December, and the other late January of 2007. Both times we requested this at least 7 months prior to our trip, and still, we did not get in either time:sad1: I have heard it is popular for locals during the weekend, but our trips have been Monday arrival Friday departure..no weekends....so I really wish you good luck in getting a spot there!!:) It sure looked like a great loop to stay!

No matter how far in advance you make a request, the sites are not assigned until four days before arrival. Up until the fourth day, the reservations is still held at CRO - FW doesn't even know it exists. It is only at the four day mark it is released from CRO to the FW site assigner.

Sometimes you can even ask as you're registering. One time after I was told our location, I just asked if there was a chance something was open in the 1500 loop, they checked and there was and they changed our site number.

Yes we did ask when we checked in...but they said none were available. However, there were tons of sites available in loop 2000.
