Which lens to buy

trying to decide on which lens to buy for my canon 5d MII
I have a 70-200, 28-70 both L lens and am looking for more reach for zoo and nature shots.

so looking at the Canon L 300 F4 or Canon L 100-400 F4.5-5.6. both Have IS. cost wise both are about the same price.

What would you buy????

I have seen some good shots with the 300mm prime and a 1.4 extender but the 100-400 will be more versatile for zoo, wildlife and sports.

On a full frame sensor (like your 5D Mk II is) I wonder if the 300L is going to be enough reach for you. I agree with PP that said you might want to consider the 1.4x teleconverter with it.

I shot a 400L on my crop sensor camera once (HS Football) and that was a trip.

I'm thinking the 100-400 would give you the ability to do some zoom and get your subject in the frame. Just gotta get used to the push-pull nature of the lens.

Vote for the 100-400. I have it and use it often. I am my son's soccer team photographer. The reach is great (though I use it on a Canon 7D, so crop sensor). I got it for a trip to the Galapagos, and used it there a little (the animals were so close most of the time that I didn't need the reach). It can be a bit slow on very cloudy days, but everyone is impressed with my shots. They're also impressed with how big it is! I love how versatile it is. It zooms by push/pull so it doesn take some getting used to.
