which language should i choose to study in high school?

hey everyone, i haven't really posted on here but i was wondering if you could help me out here.
my registration appointment at my future high school is next week and i have to choose a language.
my choices are:
*french
*japanese
*chinese
*latin
*spanish (i seriously do NOT want to take this, so i'm pretty much ignoring it.)

my first choice is french, i know a little bit and i want to learn more, but my appointment is on the last registration day so i think it might be full by the time i go there.
i'm kinda iffy on my back-up language, i don't know which one to take. latin doesn't appeal to me, though the latin students last year went to italy, but other than that, it seems like a dead language to me, but i've heard it's useful with learning romance languages such as italian and french. japanese seems cool, as does chinese as well, but ehh, i'm not sure...
anyway, help?
please?
I just signed up last week. I'm taking latin and spanish. i chose based on my (hopeful) future job.
Oh and I had the option between
spanish
french
latin
and chinese

Obviously German, because it's by far the coolest.

EDIT: My bad, i did not see that it's not a choice.
But it's still by far the coolest :p

Je ne comprends pas l'allemand. Je prends le francais et je l'aime. Aussi, j'ai fais du latin et je l'ai trouve etre utile.

WOW
Thats crazy!

All we have at my high school is

Spanish
Latin
French

German is pretty easy to learn. If you ever go to Germany and you can't speak the language, here is one phrase you have to know.Noch ein Bier, bitte .:rotfl:

Okay, I don't speak much German but I think I see "....beer,please", correct?

One more beer please.Btw legal drinking age in Germany is 14 so I'm not encouraging underage drinking.

I'd love to learn french- but the thing is, I'll never ever ever use it. Its pretty pointless unless you are going to live in France, or some parts of Canada... im on my fourth year of Spanish -_- Truthfully, its my favorite class but its only because of the teacher. There's another year to go, but I think im going to skip it because I just don't like Spanish.
Spanish is the one you will probably need the most though. But if you only plan on taking two years or so, it doesn't matter much.

Choose something that is useful.

There's no use in learning a new language, if you'll never need to use it.

ooh

at my high school in year 7 ou have to do compulsory franch and german, one semester each.
and then in year 8 you have to take compulsory french, german, chinese or japanese.
If your special you can get another language. like there is a girl who just moved here from jakarta and doesnt want to lose her indonesian speaking abilities so she is taking indonesian in a private course.

In year 9 you get actual electives and you can choose whether you want to stay on a language. You can do either french, german, japanese or chinese in a class or if you want to do something like italian or indonesian you need to talk to the class coordinator.

:D

the only languages my school has are french and spanish.
i decided to take french all four years.
my parents weren't in the best moods hearing that.
they think i should've taken spanish because it's used more in the united states.
i decided to take french because it sounded fun to me.
i can always take spanish later in life.

I did French for GCSE (English Final High School Exams) as I go to France a lot and I'd learnt French since I was eleven so didn't want to start a new language.

In my school we learn French and Spanish I am only taking French though as I think Spanish is quite hard to learn!!

I know you said you are ignoring Spanish but i would suggest that you definitely consider it. Spanish is the most widely spoken language and it's pretty easy.
Also you said you'd love to take french. Well, actually, Spanish is similar to French in some ways. Plus, Spanish is fairly easy to pronounce and write.

If i'm honest with you, i would def suggest Spanish. I have taken it for two years now and i think it's brilliant. I actually prefer it to Freanch - which i have been taking for five years. I'm also taking Spanish next year for A level.

French is another choice though. I do love French, it's fairly easy. But sometimes can be a little complicated.

I've never taken any of the other languages, or even experienced them to be honest, so i can't really suggest them. But maybe they would be more fun.

Anyways, that's my suggestions :)
