DS will be 8, with in a month of the minimum age.

Can we sign him up in both and let him/us decide which is best?

Want him to spent much of his time with us, But sure he will want his own time.

Seems to be fun in both club/lab according to the recent navigator I have read.

Any info will help.

Thanks, going in 20 days Magic Western cant wait.

From what I have read here before, you have to choose when you board the ship and register your child. A great idea that I have read here before, is to visit Dave's web site(www.dcltribute.com) and print the activities for both clubs. Go over them with your child and see which one he would prefer. That way, there is now rushing to decide when you get on board - You'll already know! Hope that helps somewhat -

Our cruise was about a week before my daughter turned 8 and she stayed with the younger group in the club.

A couple of things influenced this: she had two older brothers in the lab so I think it was good to let her have her own space, she likes the dress up and fanatasy element, and I was more comfortable about her being one of the oldest than being one of the youngest. She is very good with younger children and likes to be the helper, instead of the one needing help. I think she would have been very frustrated trying to keep up with the older kids.

On our last cruise, my DS was 6. The ONLY time he wanted to be in the kids club was when they were in the lab. Sometimes the Club spends their time in the Lab and then he would go.

He felt the Club was too young for him. I thought it was small for the amount of 4 year olds running around!

That's how my DS is... he'll be turning 8 during our next cruise, and he is SO excited that he doesn't have to be with "the babies" anymore... he just loves the stuff and the activities in the Lab more, and got really really bored with all the activities geared for the pre-schooler set in the Club.

My point is, it depends on your child... some would do better in the younger group, some with the older. You know your child best. :)

Linda,

We had the same dilemma. My DS will be 8 next month. We just returned (TODAY ... BOO!!) from the 3 night Wonder cruise! We'd never cruised before, so I wasn't sure about the kids clubs. The problem for us ended up being that we wanted to spend time together, but still let the kids be on their own if they wanted. We checked into the club and registered Adam at the very beginning of the trip. I explained the dilemma to the counselors and they read over the schedules with Adam and left him decide where he wanted to be. He chose the 8 - 9's because he didn't want to be with the little kids. And the 8 - 9's are out and about alot more than the 5 - 7's. He actually didn't end up being there at all because everything we wanted to do as a family kept us busy almost all the time!! He did go with the 8 - 9's on Castaway Cay for the treasure hunt, but that was it. There just wasn't enough time!!

The counselors did say that they'd put him in the 8-9 on a trial basis and they would let you know if it didn't seem to be working out.

We just sailed, 9/21..... DS is 5, and was registered in the Club. When they went to the Lab a couple times, he thought the Lab was great!!! While much of what was going on in the Club seemed great for him at five years old, I cannot imagine an eight year old boy prefering the club. It is easy to see how a seven year old girl would be happy there, with Snow White, Dress-up, etc....

Of course, with kids it is hard to tell, with never even having seen your DS... personal preferences and developmental levels can vary so greatly with kids!

Check out the Navigators listed on Castwayclub.com . They just posted the ones from my 4-nite cruise.

That may be helpful to you!
