Which Keurig?

I have had the Platinum for over 3 years and use it all the time! My kids use it for Snapple iced tea and hot chocolate and have never noticed any coffee taste. That being said I personally like very STRONG coffee - and I have trouble getting that with this brewer, especially in anything less than a dark roast. I have tried using my own coffee with the Keurig adapter and with one of the knock-off baskets - just not as strong as I would like. When the Today show offered a Vue 600 for $70 I jumped on it. The difference in the coffee is amazing! I put that on strong and it brews a perfect cup. Granted the vue pods don't offer quite the variety yet, but I kept my other one for that (at least as long as it lasts) and honestly they seem to have added quite a few flavors, including 2 step ones for latte type drinks.

My Aunt bought one of these for my Grandmother. She was worried about the availability of the Vue Pods and the cost of them. After searching on the internet I found a reusable adapter for the Vue. With this adapter it allows you to use the k-cups in your Vue machine. It's called Solofill V2 3 in 1 reusable filter. I purchased mine at Bed Bath and Beyond. We haven't used it yet as it's for a Christmas gift. My DGM loves her coffee strong so I'll let ya know how it works.

I have a Keurig that has a reservoir, not sure what kind. My question is can you empty the reservoir? Not the clear one on the outside, but the internal one?

I only use the machine occasionally, for convenience. I have another primary coffeemaker. So it would be nice to be able to empty it out if I am not going to use it for a few days.

Also, when we stayed at POP this summer, I took my Keurig with me, since there are no coffee makers in the rooms. I emptied it as much as I could by trying to "trick" it into dispensing water by making it think water was in the outside reservoir. That worked a little bit, but there was still water in there. So I had to carry it to POP with water in it.

It just seems weird that water is just supposed to sit in the appliance indefinitely.

From Keurig's website:

"Once your Keurig home brewer has been primed, you cannot empty the water from the inside. The internal tank of the brewer cannot be drained. If you need to store your brewer, empty the removable water reservoir and store your brewer in a safe and frost-free environment. Please be sure to store your brewer in its upright position to avoid water leakage from the inner tank."

We have one at work that is the office pro. It lets you drain the internal reservoir. There is a switch on the back and you turn it from brew to drain, then push the empty reservoir button.

I have a mini right now but know that my mom bought me the Special Edition for Christmas. (I wanted the Auto on/off and the ability to choose water temp). I never thought about checking if you could drain the internal tank....:scratchin

Thanks, I found that when researching, but wondered if someone had figured out a way around this. I just don't like storing it with water in it. Seems like it would get gross.

Maybe this is why it still tastes like coffee! That is way too much work. Keurigs are supposed to make it EASIER, that sounds like a science fair experiment.

That fits because he actually IS a scientist! :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

Bumbershoot, I wouldn't dare take away his Keurig- he loves that thing! Sounds like a pain to me too- but probably 1/2 to 2/3 of the time he uses K-cups and for the rest of the time when he uses his own coffee once he cuts his little plastic thing- he uses it inside the EZ cup until it breaks which I'm guess is probably weeks at a time, so it probably isn't that much work.

What is too much work is me trying to clean his Keuring out regularly for an occasional cup of hot chocolate or tea when I can just heat a cup of water in the microwave for one minute and be done with it and have it taste right!!! :rotfl: Maybe DD and I should just get our own mini NO COFFEE Keurig!

I have the personal brewer. I am the only one in my family that drinks coffee. I really like my machine. I got one for my sister for Christmas in November at Kohls. Was on sale for $79 and then with additional savings, walked at with it for $69. QVC has a lot of them. They recently had that personal brewer for $69 and included several different coffees and the k-cup with it. I believe free shipping at the time too. There are deals out there on these.

I dont' know anythign about Keurig machines. My husband said that he would like one and I was going to purchase one on Black Friday but didn't know which one to buy. There are several different ones. He pretty much will be the only one using it. The kids will probably want hot chocolate once in a while. Which one would you recommend and where can I get the best price? Thank you.

We have the K40 and love it! Got it last year for Christmas and it's nice to use everyday and not waste a whole pot of coffee. My MIL got it from Bed Bath & Beyond using a coupon.
