Which is your Favorite?

Hi I am trying to plan a trip and I was wondering Which DVC resort is your favorite? I will be traveling with husband, our 2 daughters(5, 3), an infant, and my parents. I need something that my girls will enjoy and something the adults will to. I don't know if OKW or BCV would be better or maybe even SS or BWV. I am not sure about FWV. We have stayed there before. We would like to try something new. Thank you for your help!

With the size of your group I would go for a 2 BR at OKW for the extra space, full size washer and dryer and for the balcony. You will be able to have a place to relax and visit after the children are down for the night and the resort has something for everyone while being an oasis of relaxation once you are away from the parks.

The zero-entry pool at SSR is wonderful for little ones! And the new splash area looks to be a blast for kiddos too!

The Boardwalk is obviously my favorite, but I wouldn't recommend it to you for this trip. I think if it is pool weather, try for BCV. The sandy bottomed SAB is so cool for kids, and the adults too. If not, opt for OKW because it is good for little kids, and has so much more room in the rooms.

We are spending our second 4 generation family vacation in VWL again this year! We get a 2 bedroom dedicated for our DS, DDiL, 3 DGC (ages 2,3,4) and ourselves, and then we get studios for the other people who come. The easy access to MK and the pools and the mono rail resorts for the character meals makes it perfect for our family. Everyone loves the themeing, and Roaring Forks has good quick food and Whispering Canyon is a big hit, and the adults took turns dining out at Artist Point.

Poor HHI & VB so often get the ugly step-sisters treatment, when they are really the Cinderellas of DVC resorts.

I guess my favorite park resort is BWV, but would probably would say BCV if our children were still traveling with us.

I think Bobbi is right though, VWL is your entry to MK, which is were you will be going with such young children. You're going to have your hands full as it is, and you don't need the chaos at BCV.

OKW by a country mile. More space for a large group too.

Well, my gut and heart say OKW would be best for you because of the extra space and with that many folks going. On the other hand, it would be nice for you to be so close to MK at VWL. Given that you still need to take transportation either way, I'd say stay at OKW for the space and comfort. The bus will get you back and forth to MK in just a few minutes more than the boat from VWL would, and the bus stops are likely to be much closer to your room than the boat is to the VWL rooms.

I voted for OKW too. Any Disney resort is kid-friendly, so kids 5 and 3 will be happy wherever, I'd think. But with 7 people in a room, the OKW 2BR would really meet your needs.

That's a toughie. They all have something to recommend them for families:

SSR has the zero entry pool and water play areas, as well as the spa and access to DTD to entertain the adults more.

BCV has the sandy beach kiddie pool as part of SAB, Cape May's character meals and access to Epcot and Boardwalk for all the adult entertainment.

VWL has the ferry access to Magic Kingdom, Whispering Canyon for family meals and a beach play area, plus there's the access to Fort Wilderness and all its family activities.

OKW has the larger dining room (the only real one on property IMHO) and bigger living room area. (With a dedicated two-bedroom, I think it would be a wash as far as number of beds.) And there's a pretty cool play area for kids by the main pool. You'd have ferry and bus access to everything else.

For kids your age, I'd probably stay as close to MK as possible. You might want to check-in to Cindy's Castle since you'll practically be living there. Otherwise, it's up to what theme you fancy and what is available. Unless you own BCV and VWL, reservations may be hard to get. OKW & SSR will have the best availability for non-owners. I think in the "what's fun for adults", I'd probably pick BCV or SSR for their proximity to after-hours entertainment areas. (No knock at OKW but it's still about a mile to walk to DTD and/or requires a bus or ferry ride.)

Ok then, I switch my recommendation to OKW. Much more room... much less chaos.

You do realize SSR is right next door to OKW. It's actually closer to things than OKW being right across the lake from DTD. Plus you can always walk over to DTD and pick up a bus to any resort in WDW.

As far as actual street distance, the gate from OKW to SSR is .7 miles.

I voted for VWL because like others said it is closest to MK which is probably the park you'll go back to more often. Another plus that I don't think was mentioned is that you can take the boat over to Fort Wilderness for the campfire and petting farm. We ate at Trail's End Buffet over there before and thought it was good and reasonably priced. You also can easily take the boat over to the Contemporary for Chef Mickey's.

I also wanted to give another point of view for BCV. It is very nice and has a great pool for kids, however I feel that it isn't the best for small children since it is so spread out. If you're kids will stay in the shallow pool the entire time then it will be fine, but if they want to go on the small slide, it can't be seen from the kid's pool. I just think it is a little harder to get around there and to watch your kids when each want to do different things. When my older kids were around your kids' ages, I didn't feel like I could really enjoy it because they wanted to go in different directions which was a little hard to handle especially if I took the kids to the pool myself. Now that my oldest ones are 8, 10, and 12, it is perfect for them and I can keep an eye on my younger two without worrying too much. Although my 10 year old got lost trying to find her way back to us from the slide last year.

If you want to stay in the Epcot area, I would vote for BWV. There's something there for adults and children. That is my kids' favorite resort. It also has the community center that has activities for the kids.

You really can't go wrong with any of them though! Have fun!
