We are planning a 7 day cruise for early December 2004. Will we be able to swim? Which itenerary would be warmer? I thought the western would be.

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks.

Last November (Thanksgiving week) we cruised the Western. The weather was quite warm once you left Port Canaveral and shorts and t-shirts were the typical cruise attire. (Port Canaveral was chilly! Especially when the sun went down.)

The water (and air temp) in Grand Cayman and Cozumel were very nice. Even hot. No problem swimming here. Castaway Cay was a little chilly water-wise. Too cold for me to get in (a wimpy Floridian, I guess) but I saw MANY people in the water. I guess a lot of it will depend on were you're from and what you're accustomed to. I see lots of tourists in our FRIGID water here in Central Florida in Dec. and Jan!

Both had divine weather... I would say in the low to mid 80's (but the sun is hotter there and it stays about 80 at night too) for us it could not have been nicer, of course we have left snow storms and below freezing temps. December is my favorite time to go!

Ann,

Thanks for the reply. Since the weather was great on both the eastern and western, which did you like best? We have a 5 yr old DS and a DD who will be 7. We would probably do limited excursions and try to enjoy the ship and the pool.

Is one ship more formal than the other?? I would like the DH to dust off his tuxedo!!

Thanks much!:Pinkbounc

The western is great don't get me wrong the stingrays in grand cayman are a once in a life time experience. I just enjoy the extra day at sea getting to the eastern. It makes it seem so much more tropical, also key west I could do without. It would be a fun place to visit as adults(infact we did the keys for our honeymoon and loved it) but it is not the most child friendly atmosphere. When I go on a cruise I want to feel like I am going far away.
both are equally formal.By all means DH can wear his tux!

Thanks Ann,

I will read about the eastern route in my Passporter. It just came today, yippee!

I appreciate the help. I'm such a newbee.
