Should we do it by mail and pay the extra $100 or take a taxi to and from AKL? Has anyone gone by taxi and know about how much it costs? We are trying to decide if we need to rent a car and all that jazz in Feb

You can do your license through Brevard county for the normal fee (nothing extra, I don't remember the exact cost but it was not $100). If you go to the website you can print the form, you mail it in, they send you the forms that you need to have notarized and you send them back with the check and voila, they mail you the license. That is what we did and it was so easy. We figured if we didn't get it in time we would just go to the courthouse but we didn't need to because it was very fast and efficient.

Ditto what Skylar said!

Here's the Brevard County link: http://199.241.8.125/index.cfm?FuseAction=MarriageLicenses.Forms

All said we were done in under 3 weeks. I think the fee was 92.50$. I believe the mail away sites like you referenced charge a fee (of 100-150$) plus whatever the actual license fee is (I think it's the same in every county). Save yourself the extra fee and go through Brevard County!

I would recc what Skylarr said. We got ours from the Orange County courthouse in october (I was up there for work and so was my DH) and it is a bit of a drive from Disney and may be a hefty cab fare. We live in FL so it was easy for us to drive, but may be expensive for you to get a cab.

Lost of girls have done the license by mail and had no issues.

I am going through the mail with Brevard County. I sent in my initial information form to Brevard county on November 19th and I still don't have anything back from them. I called and they said they send out the forms at the very last minute since the license is only good for 60 days....I only have 42 days until the wedding so I don't understand that logic but anyway, it seems that the whole process is pretty quick once you get the paperwork so I guess its a good way to go.

We also did it by mail throudh Brevard County. It was very easy, just follow the directions the other girls gave you. Just remember that even if you send in your paperwork early, they will hold it and process it at your 30 day mark.

What 30 day mark is this? I thought the licence was valid longer than this?
Just concerned coz we're in the UK so it needs to get back to us before we leave!

I just wanted to note that I just received my paperwork in the mail. I sent it out the initial information sheet on November 18th and now on the 22nd I received the additional paperwork to sign and send back my payment. I am 41 days away from my wedding date. I hope this helps someone out! I am sure the license does not take long to come back after the paperwork is received. Oh this is all from Brevard County. :thumbsup2

The license is good for 60 days. For yours, I'd add a sticky note that being overseas you'd prefer they send it to you no less than 45 days out so it won't be delayed or something like that. I'm sure it won't be an issue. I sent my final paperwork to them and received it back in about a week.
