I will be buying a new stand mixer within a month and I want one that will last, so I need the steel gears. I will be buying attatchments such as a grinder, salad maker, pasta maker, and a blender or strainer too.

We've had a Kitchen Aid for about 10 years now with no problems. My folks have my grandmother's old Kitchen Aid. That thing must be well over 40 years old now. Although I wouldn't expect a 40 year run on a new one, I bet they they still have one of the best units out there.

I bought my kitchen aid (reconditioned model) 12 years ago. It's still running strong.

DH bought his KitchenAid in 1975 and its still going strong!

If you watch Food Network, you'll notice that ALL of the chefs have Kitchenaid mixers. They're the best!

I found a good deal on one at Kohl's. I waited until I got a 30% off code online and free shipping, between the sale price and the discount, I paid less than half of retail for it and had it shipped to my door! :)

KitchenAid, KitchenAid, KitchenAid! Three cheers for KitchenAid! lol I wouldn't survive without my KitchenAid! I bought mine 16 years ago and I've never had a problem. They're the only brand that I recommend to others.

and it is the lower end model. I bought the their coffee maker and toaster hoping I would get similiar quality but my coffee maker lasted only just past a year. They replaced it, but that one died too.

I recommend the Kitchen Aid for sure! My ONLY complaint would be that it is sort of heavy. I have to store it on one counter and move it to another to use it (my kitchen is NOT laid out well and I don't have much of a choice). I'm not sure if Cuisinart is heavy as well.

That said, I still recommend the Kitchen Aid. It's fantastic!

I have had a Kitchen Aid for more than 15 years and it looks and works like new. I do have the grinder and the pasta attachment but I don't use them very often.

The only appliance I have that's lasted longer than my Kitchenaid (10 years so far) is an original Hamilton Beach Malt Mixer from 1934 that came out of my great grandparents' drugstore soda fountain... and even it needed a new electrical cord about 20 years ago.

My MIL bought us a Kitchen Aid mix (the top of the line one where the bowl lifts up) one of the first few years we got married. So I would say my Kitchen Aid is about 18 years old. I LOVE it! I have the pasta roller and pasta cutter. i also have the meat grinder.

I am not sure what the salad maker is?? How does that work?

Kitchen aid! I have a kitchen aid hand mixer that is about 5-6 years old and still works great. My Dad has a smallish Kitchen Aid stand mixer (he named her Bertha) that he has had as long as I can remember and still works great. I received the big 6quart professional one for Chistmas and LOVE it! The only thing I would suggest is purchasing the coated beaters so they can be tossed in the dish washer. Amazon sells them for about $25.

Another vote for kitchenaid. Mine is going on fifteen yrs. I have the refreezable ice cream maker bowl as well. It is very fun to use. My mom has a hobart, which became kitchenaid in the 60s or 70s. Her's is going on fifty years old and she uses it daily.
These things are indestructable!

I've had my Kitchen Aid 6qt for about 5 years and I love it. I highly recommend buying the rubber-sided beater blade, though, as it scrapes the sides of the bowl while you beat, and eliminates the need to stop the machine and scrape down the bowl at intervals. It also eliminates any little bit in the bottom of the bowl that didn't get mixed. It is soooo much better than the beater that comes with it. You can get it here at Amazon, just make sure you pick the right size for your machine.
