Which is more tame: Star Tours or Mission Space Green?

MS is not a roller coaster type ride, but just a motion-simulator? Want to be 100% sure, as I've been avoiding this ride every single year due to fear of roller coaster/Tower of Tower/Splash type stuff. I do get motion sickness as well, but still go on the motion simulated stuff. If this is true, I'll take DD9 with me on the Green side, and DH can do the spinny one. What other major rides are like this that I shouldn't be avoiding?

Yes, it's a simulator, not a roller coaster. the green one is very mild.

What the others said--MS:G is much tamer but more claustrophobic than Star Tours, and MS:O is significantly more intense than either.

Glad I saw this thread - Star Tours made me feel very ill last time, and I've always avoided MS for this reason. What I didn't like about ST was there was no "escape". You couldn't close your eyes because the whole room was moving!

Sounds like I should give MS green a try this time :thumbsup2

Green is a simulator.

Orange is a simulator that also spins. There are no roller coaster type drops, but it spins. I was told it is like arms holding pods, attached to a center wheel -- a centrifuge. It makes me very sick. :crazy2:

You can read about it here: http://amusementauthority.blogspot.com/2010/09/what-are-mechanics-of-mission-space-at.html

Orange side spins you in a centrifuge so you get the effect of increased G forces on your body. It's like that ride we've all seen at the fair, except you're sitting down instead of standing up against the side walls. Then they show a movie on the screen in front of you at the same time. So... you're watching a movie about blasting off into space at the same time you're being spun so that the G forces feel like you're being pressed into the back of your seat & your cheeks are being pulled back toward your ears. It feels realistic, and if you close your eyes you'll get sick from the spinning.

Green side just puts you in the same seating arrangement & plays the movie in front of you. Maybe a little tilting of your seat back & forth, but no spinning or G forces.

Both of them are confined spaces. It's a pod that's 4 seats wide with a wall right behind your head, you're strapped in, doors on both ends of the row close, and then the wall in front of you swings back toward you so close that you can reach out & touch it. You can't lean forward & see down the row, and you can't get out.

Roughly how long are you spinning on the Orange side? I think I could handle 30 seconds but not 3-4 minutes of constant spinning.

:offtopic: This is my favorite ride at the fair!

The spinning is MS:O does not last as long as that ride. Less than a minute, I think.

You sit in a small 4 person capsule. They close the doors on both sides and the instrument panel moves in close to you.

It has never bothered me, but I can see how a person that does not like confined spaces could be uncomfortable.

If you are interested, there are many YouTube videos that show the ride.

Thanks, I watched some of the vids but I can't really make a judgement from them.... Guess I'll have to decide if I want to take a chance or not... I've never got sick and only one time did I ever feel a little bad after a roller coaster and that was only because we rode it 3 times in a row without getting off.. Big mistake there!!! LOL

Here's the best representation I can find, you can fast forward to 4:18 - 4:53 to see how close it is in the capsule.

Star Tours. The visuals match the movement.

The spinning is longer than 1 minute on MS:O. It intensifies and relaxes, intensifies and relaxes, then intensifies again for a sustained landing. The whole ride is around 5 minutes long and at least half has some g-forces.

Star Tours is a very jerky motion simulator. The Mission Space GREEN ride is not too bad. Just make sure it's the GREEN line!

I would agree Mission Space:Green is tamer. Star Tours definitely made me feel a little ill.

You spin in spurts of probably 30-45 seconds and only really hard a couple of times. I love the orange, but the family always wants to do green.

As far as which ride is tamer... they are pretty close to equal. I don't really think I could choose. Just ride them both! Neither one is bad at all.
