I booked a room at the poly for two nights in march and called yesterday to enquire about some changes. The CM I was talking to said that I should do the stay/play/dine deal instead with all the ADRs we have booked. I wasn't aware I could do it for two nights only. he quote me 1300 for the two days and said it was regularly 1700.

My question is this....we already have one day tickets so dont need to buy them but have to to get the deal...I think it would save us money on dining but waste money on tickets.

Could I book the package and then if I change my mind switch it back to a room only and still keep the discount?? OR should I stick with room only and add the tickets/dining on later??

You could hold the extra set of tickets for another trip. As long as they aren't used, they won't expire; the clock starts ticking once a ticket is first used.

You MAY be able to change the reservation again to a room-only with discount - depends if that discount is still available when you decide to make the change. That said - changing from a room-only to a package, or vice versa, is technically a cancellation and re-book - not a modification to the existing reservation.

You'll have to decide if the savings for the dining is worth the added expense of buying the extra set of tickets now. Will your family use all the dining credits, and/or will you still have some out-of-pocket expense for dining? Based on your original plans, is the amount you would pay OOP for dining be equivalent to the extra cost of tickets - in which case I'd stick with the current room-only discount.

Enjoy your vacation!

As the pp said, you may or may not be able to change back to the room only discount if you decide against the s/p/d deal as the room only deal would still have to be available for booking, as well as your room type at the Poly. I would run the numbers between the s/p/d and room discount and see which provides the bigger savings. I priced out both deals keeping all things equal (1 day base tickets with s/p/d and adding a 1 day ticket and DDP to room discount deal) and the room discount as a package came out $450 cheaper than the s/p/d (this was pricing for 4 adults at CR). Booking room only now and adding tickets/DDP later (making it a package), would result in cancelling and rebooking like the pp said and any money paid toward one cannot be transferred to the other so you would have to wait for a refund. With all of that said, if you know you want the DDP and go with the room discount deal, I would book it as a package from the beginning. Good luck.

I priced out both the s/p/d deal and the room only discount adding on tickets and ddp. The room only discount is cheaper by 150 bucks.
I am leaning towards doing that as the dining plan portion works out to cost 258 and I know with three ts we would spend more than that out of pocket.

The ticket and ddp is 539...which I think we would spend more than on dining anyways.

Are the tickets transferable or do we have to use them? when do they expire?
thanks

Does that make sense what I wrote.

To go from Room only to package would be 539 more....so I should figure out if my dining would cost more than that right??

The other thing is the tickets we have are hoppers and we wont be hopping at all....so should I save the hoppers for another visit and buy new tickets to get the dining plan????

1200 seems a lot for two nights?!?!

I am finding, generally, the room-only discount with tickets and dining added is pricing out lower than the current discount package rate. Did you price out the room discount with base tickets and dining added to compare it to the discount package rate? I'm not a big fan of the dining plans. I like a little more freedom in ordering than it allows. I always take room only discounts over packages. Also, I don't know what your dates are, but Magical Vacations Travel is holding an agency exclusive in March. You can do room and dining with no tickets through them if you simply want to use the tickets you already have.
