Which is better... Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach?

We're heading down to Disney in 3 days. Someone in my office said that they prefer TL over BB. We were all set on going to BB, but now maybe we might go to TL based on what my co-worker told me.

It will be me, DW, DD11 & DS8. We want MILD but fun/wet rides, and also a calm place to relax as well.

We've never been to either water park.

Thanks in advance to all that can provide help!!

only done TL but LOVED IT lots of choice of rides some big some small and the shark reef is GREAT

The answer is - it depends.

As with most of Disney, it is a matter of personal preference. There are a number of similarities, as both have a lazy river, kids splash areas and a wave pool. However, Blizard Beach is more about the slides where as Typhoon lagoon is more about the wave and shark pool.

Personally, I don't think you can go wrong with either park. Our family tends to go to Blizzard Beach more, however, for our trip this year we are going to Typhoon Lagoon instead so we can try the new water slide Crush 'n Gusher.

Hope this helps.

We go to both!! :flower: They are both awesome- just with different theming.

BB is neat b/c its like a ski resort- I like the chair lifts, their family raft ride and they have a great lazy river w/Ice Gator splashing you and caves w/cold water.

TL has a great laid back, tropical feel- I like shark reef and TL has the 3 new Crusher Gusher slides.

Go to both if you can!!

But as 1BigDisneyFan said - it depends.

BB - fun cartoonish theme very much geared for kids
Lazy river, mild wave pool, lots of slides (some consider them more exciting than TL), the BEST family raft ride, ski patrol training area perfect for your kids age group, great well planned kiddie area

TL - very tropical, gillians island adult like theme
Lazy river, the awesome & powerful wave pool, enough slides for most, shark reef (best done early in day), new crusher slide

So it depends on what your family is looking to do. They both have slides and if you have never been you will love the slides either way. Decide on some of the other factors. Personally I would tell you to go to BB.......JMO

Typhoon Lagoon is a beatiful park, very tropical, BEST wave pool, good slides and the newest water slide/water coaster. Has a nice lazy river. Certainly one of our favorite waterparks.

However Blizzard Beach has the biggest baddest slide in WDW with the Summit Plummet, 60 mph on your bottom.
It also has many more different slides, fast, wavy and straight ones.
A really good lazy river with great theming. The best family raft ride with Teamboat Springs, good wave pool.
We like both but it really depends on the ages of your group and what you want out of a water park on that day.
Hope this helps!

well... thanks again for ALL your views!!! I'm starting to feel very comfortable again with our first selection > Blizzard Beach.

and yes, we will do both parks - just not both this year.

Thanks Everyone!!

If I had to choose one to go to over the other, I would choose TL because they have swimming with the sharks. I always do that three or four times the day we go to TL. It's a blast.

hi Mickeydad can you post on this thread when you get back and let me know which you went to and how it was -- i have kids the same ages as yours DD11 and DS8.. thanks Michelle

Excellent - thanks very much from one Yankee fan to another !! Have a wonderful trip ! Michelle

Bigsis1970,

Must be tough cheering for the Bombers up in Maine. Mostly, Red Sox fans up there, right??

Isn't the ring ceremony still going on at Fenway??? :goodvibes They are milking this thing aren't they. I heard they opened Fenway today for fans too see the trophy and rings up close (oooohhhhhh). Sounds like a fun afternoon in beantown?!? :rotfl:
