Which is better for the environment?

Aluminum or plastic?

Specifically I'm talking about individual fruit cups made my Del Monte. At Sam's they sell both the plastic containers and the aluminum (or some type of metal, I'm only guessing AL). I recycle both, so would it make any difference?

And if anyone asks, I buy the individuals because i send them with my kids to school. I do understand that buying bigger containers is better for the environment.

I think the plastic can actually be used for more things than the metal but many towns won't recycle that type of plastic. If yours does I'd go with them. There's also less of a chance that your DS will cut his hand on the plastic ones.
