Which is best to sell on for a newbie: Ebay or Craigslist?

I have some Girls of Many Lands Dolls to sell to get some Christmas money, but don't know if I should try eBay or Craiglist. The dolls are in a box, so the shipping would probably be pricey if I did it on eBay, but selling on Craigslist freaks me out a little bit to have people come to my house. Ebay seems a lot harder to do, but is it worth it moneywise?? If I only have 6 should I just deal with someone coming to my house? I live in a safe city so probably wouldn't be a big deal. Any opinions?

You can always have people meet at a shopping area or restaurant near your house. That way you don't have to worry about strangers. Bring a friend if it makes you more comfortable but I have *knock on wood* have had good luck w/very nice people on CL.

I agree with PP, just meet off site. I usually try to do craisglist first because less hassle and no fees! Then I go to ebay if I just can't seem to sell in my area.

If you really want to feel safe, meet in the parking lot of the local police station. They are usually in a complex area full of local government type offices, so there would be plenty of parking.

My sister sells alot of stuff on Craigslist - baby stuff, toy and clothes her kids have outgrown. She always meets the buyer in a public place and does not go alone; I usually go with her.

We've met lots of really nice people and had only good experiences with meetings. We always meet in a public place for example outside of Wal-Mart by the flagpole (ours only has one flagpole) - nice pubic place yet very specific so you can find each other.

I love CL and am having a blast decluttering and making $$. For me the draw is no fees, no shipping hassle and no confusion - you meet up get the money and hand over the item - it can't get lost or put in the wrong place by the UPS man etc.

i vote cl. ebay has so many issues/ you cld end up losing money.

during my day, I always have to be at a store at some point or grab a starbucks. So when you sell on CL, you can ask the buyer to meet you there and get things done @ the same time.

Thank you for the posts! I'm kind of excited (but nervous too) to start posting things on there. Great idea to meet in a parking lot somewhere! That's perfect!
