Which hotel?

Curious as to which hotel you find to be the best place to stay (on site, Disney hotel ).

FYI, it will be myself, DH and my 2 year old DD that will be going. We plan to go in late Sept./early October.

And not sure about this...but does the monorail still connect to the hotel and Disneyland? Are all of the hotels within walking distance, or are some easier to get to the theme parks than others????

All the Disney owned hotels are within walking distance, some are just farther away than others. PPH is the farthest away while GCH is the closest.

The monorail does not stop at the hotel anymore. There is a monorail station in Downtown Disney, not far from the DLH.

If you are planning on doing some swimming while your are there, I would recommend the DLH. It has a wonderfully themed pool around Neverland and Peter Pan. You can even see Tinkerbell in the pool at night.

I prefer GCH because of location but this year we will be staying at DLH because it's suited more for the kids.

You can stay offsite at some of the hotels on Harbor for 1/2 to 1/3 the cost of the DL hotels. Many of them are actually closer walking distance than DLH or PP. I'd recommend Howard Johnson's; they have a brand new pirate themed water play area.

If it's gotta be on-site, GCH is the best and closest. Especially with a 2-year old; you'll be right close by in case you need to retreat for a break or a change of sopping wet clothes (from playing in the water play area in Bug's Land!) or whatever. They have a nice kid's pool with a small slide, besides the big pools and water slide, and hot tub. GCH is also very expensive, though.
