Which hotel would you choose?

The only WDW hotel we have stayed at is or was Dizie Landings which is now Port of Orleans riverside. For DS bday I want to stay on site, I've looked at my choices and while I would love to stay at one of the Deluxe resorts I would rather spend my money on other things besides the resort as they are 500 bucks for 2 days through the BRP. So that leaves me the moderate resorts, as the values aren't showing up.

The only 2 moderates I want to stay at are Colorado Springs or Carribian (sp). Port of Orleans looks nice but I think it would remind me too much of my beloved city which would break my heart and I just don't want that during DS's bday celerbration.

So which one of those two would you all suggest?

Both resorts are large, but I'd definitely choose Coronado Springs. Since it's also a convention resort, it has some amenities you'd only find at deluxe hotels such as a hair salon and gym. The pool is awesome with great theming and pool bar!!

HTH!!! :teeth:

I would suggest you look at the DVC rental board. We own at Old Key West. I would say the rooms are better than deluxe, and they may not cost as much depending on when you go. Weekends are expensive of course (Friday and Saturday).

Coronado Springs - no contest. Check out the Disney Resorts boards - lots of info there on Coronado Springs, and of the course, the other moderates.

I stayed on Disney property for the first time this past September and we chose Coronado. It was TOTALLY AWESOME! You don't share the transportation system with any other resort so you can get around pretty quickly. The Pepper Market serves great food. HUGE portions. It's the only moderate with fitness facilities, it has beautiful theming, the main pool area and dig site are great, I could go on and on....

Last year, I stayed at Caribbean Beach Resort and had a wonderful time so I am bias. I haven't stayed at Coronado Springs Resort. But, I think either choice sounds great!!! :goodvibes

One of the above posters did have a great idea though. This year, since we are on a small budget and could only afford a Moderate Resort, we were very pleased to find a member of this board with DVC ownership that would rent to us. We ended up paying $400 for 5 (week) nites at Old Key West.

So... if you are planning a trip later rather than sooner, it is definitely something I would consider. :earsgirl:

I have stayed at both CSR and CBR. Both are VERY large resorts, but I prefer CBR of the two. CSR is a convention resort, no Disney feel at all with lots of people in suits and business attire. We just got back from CSR and although I requested Casitas 1, first floor we were given Casitas 5, 4th floor! From our room to the Pepper Market food court was 6/10 of a mile! It took me over half an hour in the morning to walk up for coffee and back. I would honestly consider Port Orleans French Quarter. It's a very nice resort, smallest in size on property and you have the advantage of the boat to DD.

I've considered it. I think I would get too homesick there and be more upset then anything.

I've posted a message on the DVC board and got a response so I'm going to talk to DH about that also.

Try checking the prices at the Wilderness Lodge. They are the cheaper of the Deluxes and if you want to have more options for transportation etc. are the way to go.
