These 4 hotels are within our budget and available on our dates in mid-September, but we have never stayed at any of them:

Ramada Maingate
Fairfield Inn
Desert Inn & Suites
Anabella

These are our priorities for a hotel:

1. walking distance to parks
2. cleanliness and quality of rooms
3. nice pool area for kids

Which would you choose? Thanks!

I have heard decent things about all of the hotels but have never stayed at any. I voted for Ramada simply because I have stayed at other Ramada's and like the standard hotel.

I'he stayed at the Ramada Maingate and was happy with it. Pool is the best of choices listed. The rooms were clean and the breakfast was decent although basic. The Desert, and the Ramada are very close together as far as distance. The fairfield is in the other direction more towards the freeway though it doesn't look any farther there seems to be less foot traffic and its further back from the street.

For this trip we book the Desert Inn & suites on the recommendations of many friends who have stayed there mainly for the distance to the park.

ok the biggest reason for my vote for fairfield is the location...it is sandwiched in between Mimi's and McDonalds and it is very close proximity to entrance into DL...it sits back away from the street and its really a nice little hotel...

I was over at Ramada Maingate a couple of weekends ago because I had to pick up something over there...while I was waiting I talked to one of the front desk clerks and the night manager and I was telling them about some rumors I had heard about the hotel...rooms being really dingy and not clean...they were all too familiar with this and indicated that they have had issues because they are refurbishing rooms and everybody wants into the refurbished rooms and think that if they are not fortunate enough to get one that they should get a discount and not have to pay out the same as guests with newly done rooms...and one of the clerks told me that he sends his parents over to Fairfield when they come in to town...so that speaks volumes to me....

I have stayed at the Fairfield Inn, and Desert Inn.
While the Desert Inn is closer, the Fairfield Inn is more up to date and modern.

What about the HoJo, it has the great pool area...... fir the kiddos, and a nice gift shop/market.

Also at the Fairfield Inn, you get Marriott reward points which come in handy...

I haven't stayed at the Ramada, but have heard good things as a PP stated. I also timed the walk for another DISer on my last trip as I stayed down Disney Way and walked past it twice a day. As a solo walker it was 5 minutes from the from of the Ramada to bag check. If you have slower walkers with you I'd still say it wouldn't be more than 10. You're going to have a great time no matter where you stay.

We've stayed at the Ramada and the Fairfield Inn and of the two I prefer the Fairfield.

-Walking: they seemed equidistant from DL, just in opposite directions. We found more people walking with us in the direction of the FFI and further on to Hojo than when we walked back to the Ramada.

-Room: The room at the FFI was fresher and brighter. The Ramada room which was supposed to be one of the renovated rooms seemed dark and gloomy.

-Breakfast: Ramada included a breakfast, FFI did not.

-Pool: Didn't utilize it so I didn't check it out.
