Ok dh and I are coming in early March for his work. They will pay for a standard room at Animal Kingdom, Boardwalk Inn,Yacht and Beach club, Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista, Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress or Wyndham Grand Orlando Bonnet Creek. Yes it is a standard room but which would you chose and why? It would be just DH and I for 4-6 nights. TIA

Where will your husband's meetings/work be located? What will you be doing while he's working? Will you have a car?

If it's being paid for by the employer, I would personally pick Boardwalk, Yacht, or Beach Club. Since it's just you and DH I think it would be nice to be able to walk to Epcot and also close to DHS and the Boardwalk area. I've heard great things about Grand Cypress as well but in this case I think I'd go with an Epcot resort (I suppose because I couldn't afford it out of my own pocket so I'd jump on the chance to have someone else pay).

No car but will have transportation to and from convention that he is attending. I will go to parks on my own and he will meet up with me in the evening. I have done Disney twice but stayed at Pop because of budget. This time since the lodging and airfare is paid for I am open to any and all suggestions.

I agree with the PP who recommends YC, BC or BWI. Perhaps take a look at some youtube videos and see which one appeals to you most. All are in the EP resort area and will offer you the ability to boat and/or walk to EP and DHS making it super convenient to visit those parks. There are also a ton of restaurants within walking distance and entertainment on the Boardwalk at night. AKL is lovely, but a little more remote. I would take the offsite hotels off the list.

I'd go with Boardwalk, Yacht Club or Beach Club. You can walk or take a boat to Epcot and Hollywood Studios from any of those resorts, and you'll have the Disney transportation system to get to the other parks and Disney Springs. The non-Disney resorts have shuttles, but they're nowhere near as convenient or frequent as Disney's transportation.

I agree YC< BC or Boardwalk. Great food choices and as others have said close to Epcot & Studios

I've never stayed at any of those to be honest but if I were given the choice I'd definitely choose Boardwalk, Beach Club, or Yacht Club and out of those probably Boardwalk.

The response is overwhelmingly Boardwalk, BC or YC. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the these resorts. For a couples trip I would give the edge to Yacht Club as it seems quieter and I really liked the redesigned rooms.

Yacht Club for a couple. Love the area. Easy walk to Epcot and Hollywood studios. You can watch the fireworks from the bridge right outside of the resort from both parks! Yacht club seems fewer families than beach club, and shares the BEST Disney pool (Stormalong Bay) with Beach Club. The boardwalk area is our favorite place at Disney hands down.

Have to agree with all posters. Those three are the most convenient to parks, shopping and restaurants if you have no independent transportation. They're quiet(ish), comfortable, decent sized rooms and not as overrun with children. Of the two, YC and BWI tend to have slightly more adult parties without children than BC but I have to admit to preferring BC over YC and BWI over both of those. YC and BC have large lobbies that tend to have more people congregating in them so I find BWI to be a more soothing environment for adults without children or when on a business trip. But they're all good.

Thanks so much. We are going with the YC.

Wonderful choice!

DW and I made many adult vacation visits to the Boardwalk Inn and found the Epcot resort area wonderful for adult visits.

You will love being able to walk over to Epcot and walk or boat to DHS.

There is so much to do, see, eat, and drink within walking distance.

But be forewarned, staying at an Epcot resort will spoil you for future WDW visits.
Oh yes, I almost forgot... :welcome: to DISboards!
