We just returned from the Poly and stayed at GVC. We enjoyed it very much. Both my DH and I would like to stay at a resort with concierge services again.

What everyone thoughts on the best on?:D

I think it is such a personal choice. What I love you may hate and vice versa!! :)
I think the only way to know is to try them!! (Which is fun too :))

We happen to love the Yacht concierge.:sunny:

Does each resort offer differ foods or are they all the same?

The food choices will vary by resort. The one's with the most interest are perhaps the Poly and AKL. The most "common" or "standard" will be found at YC/BC and BWI.

we've stayed at WL and AKL concierge level.

We liked AKL much better...hands down.

The cappucciono machine was our favorite! that, and AKL conc. actually offers more "perks" to their guests...with the safaris they offer.

LOVE AKL and BWI. Very different decor and locations but both very luxurious and wonderful - great Itinerary Planning. I am so thrilled to be going back to AKL CL just before Christmas:bounce: :Pinkbounc . Looking forward to returning to BWI CL maybe next summer. It is awesome, too. Both had terrific food selections and great CMs in the lounge...

We loved the GF RPC for our honeymoon in '97, but I think that was a different era ---pre cutbacks -- and of course, they treat honeymooners wonderfully.

We tried Poly LVC this June and really liked it. The location and the large lounge are great. And the vast expansive views are to die for!

Then we went to AKL Concierge for our last 2 nights. Didn't think I'd really like this resort--I'm kind of the elegant type. This place blew me away. The service was impeccable--very personalized. They clearly were excited to have us there. The rooms were in great shape. The kids activities were wonderful. The Sunset Safari was worth every penny. The food and beverages in the lounge were phenomenal. The bus service was very quick--way better than stopping at the other resorts as we did at BWI. They also were the only ones to have our room ready at a decent hour (by noon) BWI had challenges until after 7pm and Poly took till almost 6! We are going back in Dec and can't wait to see it decked out for the holildays. I wouldn't hesitate for a minute to stay here. So much to do that I even passed up our only opportunity to hit DTD for shopping to hang out and enjoy the resort and lounge! I took lots of pix so you can pm me if you'd like to see them. Good luck with your decision.

Thanks for all the input. I think we need to stay at another resort to see for ourselves. Seems AKL is getting the best reviews so far.

Anyone else?:sunny:

1. AKL for all the reasons given by everyone else.
2. The Polynesian for the atmosphere, large rooms, and Chef Dick
3. The BWI for it's casually elegant setting and sweet CM's.
4. The BC for the thoughtful CM's and great location.
5. The YC because I'm making a list of the ones I've stayed at and it was better than the GF.
6. The GF.

AKL is my fave. Of course I am partial. EVERYTIME I book someplace else I change it back to AKL. I just changed BWI club level to AKL. After looking at pictures on the concierge thread of the lounge. it had alot of breakable looking things. Not good with rambunctious kids.

Good choice :) The BWI seems more geared towards adults, children ar eof course welcome, but due to the conference center, there are a LOT of adults there. AKL on the other hand is excellent for all ages, and really seems geared towards kids.

I didn't even think about the conferance center adding more sedate guests.
I did just get back from the HRH club level. And surprisingly my twins were not the loudest patrons there!;)

Tell me about the HRH club. We just got back from PBH club and enjoyed it. Hwever, we usually stay at HRH but it was sold out but not at club level. (Love that level and won't go back down)

Splashfamily... I really enjoyed the Hard rock's Club level. There are 2 trip reports posted on the Universal Trip reports boards.

As I said my fave is AKL club level. I always go at the end of a week of running the kids around the parks, once we hit AKL it is downtime and we do very little, mostly hang out at the resort.
Now we did mostly hanging out in the pool at the resort at HRH as well, But due to the atmosphere it was more a play than relax time. If I were to do it again I would start at HRH for the weekend to get revved up! then do my DVC..... then still do my AKL at the end to relax.

I enjoyed it but even the kids seemed to be in overdrive. Maybe it's the music that is piped in?
