We are leaving tomorrow and driving 21+ hours to DisneyWorld, yay!
Our plan is to leave tomorrow after dh gets off work and just drive until we don't feel like driving (maybe 10 or 11 p.m.) so we are just going to stop where ever we end up without any particular hotel or city in mind. We will do this for two nights on the way down and again on the way back.

So... what are your recommendations for the hotel chains with the best free breakfasts?

We have little kids and are leaving from far north Illinois if that makes a difference in your suggestions :)

Thank you!

I'd definately look down the route you plan on taking and book a hotel, this is labor day weekend and you may find higher prices and more sold out hotels then any other weekend.

Drury Inn is my favorite but harder to find.
Hampton Inn is my second favorite. There are a lot more of them.

I just did a midwest to northeast road trip and found good breakfasts at Courtyard, Fairfield Inn and Springhill Suites.

ohhh it is, isn't it!
Honestly, I'm so wrapped up in going to Disney I forgot!!
Yikes I suppose we had better give that some thought. Thanks for the advice
And thanks for the recommendations for hotels with good breakfasts. Not a whole lot to look forward to on a 21 hour drive except food lol

Hampton Inn,Springhill Suites,Embassy Suites,Country Inn and Suites,Comfort Suites all have good ones. One thing is that even though the breakfasts are good each hotel might be different as far as how big their breakfast areas are.I've been to two Comfort Suites in the Orlando area, one has a huge, new beautiful breakfast area, all the food items are spread out with enough space and amenities to keep people from bunching up,the other one is older and has a very small area to eat where you might not even find a table, all the food is cramped so you're bumping into people or waiting 10 minutes to make a waffle,so it's not always just about the hotel chain but knowing the individual hotel.

I recently stayed at an Embassy Suites in Anchorage and they had the best free breakfast buffet I have experienced in a long time. Even had made to order omelets. I do not know if this is standard for this chain.

I stayed at a Hampton Inn and a Fairfield Inn last month, and the Hampton Inn definitely had the better breakfast. I also like breakfasts at Holiday Inn Express, but haven't stayed at one recently.

And those of us on the coast line are going to be battered by Earl this weekend - :scared1:

I would stay as far inland as you could until you get past the storm.

Another vote here for Hampton Inn as far as the free breakfasts go.

That is excellent advice if OP is driving a route near the coast. Better make those hotel reservations; with people being evacuated, hotels will fill up fast, if they haven't already.

Also, where I live in DE, August up until Labor Day weekend is the most heavily traveled beach season. Most hotels along the coast of DE require a three night minimum.

I looked into staying a Saturday night on the Atlantic Ocean side in Rehoboth for my birthday on the 23rd of August. It required a three-night minimum and they quoted me a price of $300.00 a night plus tax, so it was almost $1,000.00 for the three nights. :scared1:

I went to Baltimore instead.
