Hi all,

I'm just about to book my holiday to Disneyland Paris and had my eyes set on the Kyriad hotel. It ticked all the boxes (by reading reviews) but it doesn't have a swimming pool.

Now I'm interested in the Dream Castle Hotel; clean, good rooms & service, and has a swimming pool.

But what would you recommend in your experience for good value for your money?

Both the Holiday Inn and the Explorers Hotels are off my list, heard too many negative reviews.

i would recommend a disney hotel. the only reason for that is because they give out those extra magical hours to the park in the summer. :)
i've stayed in the Holiday Inn hotel last year the only complaint we had was that when we went to check in they couldnt find our names anywhere, they said the hotel was full and we had to wait for 3-4 hours to get a room.
The kyraid and Dream castle and Holiday Inn are all quite similar to each other. The only difference they have is size and names :goodvibes

We have stayed at the
Holiday Inn 7 times
Kyriad 3 times
and Explorers and Dream Castle 1 time.

All 4 hotels are very nice and we never had a reason to complain.

Holiday Inn is a 4* hotel and has a nice Circus theming.
The Dream Castle was also great, 4* and very elegant.
The Explorers is great for families as the rooms sleep 4-6 people. And they have a great pool.
The Kyriad is very basics (like the Santa Fee) but we also had no reason to complain.

If money is not the question I would rank them in this order

1. Dream Castle
2. Explorers
3. Holiday Inn
4. Kyriad

We often choose the Holiday Inn as they have (had) great deals if you book early.

Although all 4 hotels are great we always stayed at the onsite hotels for our stay we only slept in these 4 hotels the last night after our stay or the first day before the Disney part of the vacation started.

I have only stayed @ the explorers ( dec 08)

but i am shocked that you have read many bad reviews?!
( although sometimes take them with a pinch of salt ;) as some people will always find something to complain about <sigh> )

we really liked it :thumbsup2

lovely for families / children with the pool & play areas etc
very comfy beds lol !

nice food ,fab staff check in and out was very quick

etc etc
x

I wouldn't discount the Explorer's either - we've stayed there twice and it was great :)

I haven't stayed at any of the others though so I can't answer your original question!

We have stayed at Explorers twice, Holiday Inn once and Kyriad once as well as a lot of onsite Disney ones.

We would quite happily stay at any of them again.

I think the theming in Explorers is great.

We were also very impressed with kyriad on our last trip and would definitely consider it again

I have stayed in the Kyriad too, I was a bit wary but needed a cheap hotel close by as I had preview tickets.

Very clean rooms, friendly staff etc.

If you are reading reviews of Trip advisor, I would take most of them with a pinch of salt. I have yet to see a good review for any hotel in many countries I have been looking at.

I've never stayed off site, and personally wouldn't as I go back to the hotel a lot and also love EMH too much (highlight of my trips).

DLH will be the only one I stay in from now on, but I think the Sequoia Lodge gets you the most for less money, regarding location etc.

Thanks for your feedback guys,

The weekend holiday is just for me and my girlfriend for Valentines Day. Yes, I have been reading the reviews on Tripadvisor which has had some impact on my decisions, however, we're just looking for somewhere to stay inbetween the days.

Having a themed hotel would be nice but not essential, I've never been to Disneyland Paris (not even been to France at all) and all I've heard is how expensive it is. The Kyriad seems to be the better choice for value for money; I would rather have more money to spend in the parks and evening activities/resturants.

It is currently more expensive due the poor € rate. If that picks up it would make it more attractive/cheaper

I also agree to take the reviews on Trip Advisor with a pinch of salt.

We've stayed at the Explorers five times now and have always been very satisfied. The reason we stay there is we're a family of 5 and it's the best hotel to accommodate us, otherwise I'd happily stay at the Kyriad. :)
