We are thinking of a last minute trip:cool1: . Should be the end of may to mid june but stuck on which place to stay. We have stayed at the all stars and CBR but want to try another. I guess staying at the CBR was a mistake:confused3 because unless we cant swing it, it will be at a moderate.

Our choices are
shades of green
gaylord palms
swan/dolphin
?

This time we are taking DH Pop so we want it to be nice get away. It will be Myself, DH, DS(5) DS(1) and Grand Pop

Let me know what you think.

Obviously, as I am partial to SoG, I would choose that -- but, let's look at the bigger picture...

SoG guests get most of the perks afforded to other Disney guests (EMH, dedicated transportation etc.), plus it's well-situated in the MK area. Also, biggest rooms on Disney -- period.

Gaylord Palms is truly a world-class resort in itself -- and that's the problem -- if WDW is in the plan, you are out there "on your own", plus you will have to deal with coming-in from off-property, parking, plus no perks!

Swan/Dolphin - like your other two choices, it's world class, all the way! Plus you have great beds to sleep in at the end of the day (and both are nicely-situated near Epcot and DHS).

That said, I would go in this order (for me):

SoG
Swan/Dolphin
Gaylord Palms

I don't know if you'll get as lucky as I did, but I called to book POP (my dates are in Sept), but I ended up with CBR at 40% off. I think it would be considered an upsell offer, but the CM just kept referring to it as "The Mystery Offer." When I got my reservation, there was a 3-letter code attached, but no named discount. If I had a PIN, I didn't know about it, and the CM didn't offer that info. Anyway, call and try to book POP or another very popular value resort and see what happens. Good luck!! :shamrock:

But to answer your REAL question: I have no idea about Shades of Green (maybe others who are eligible to stay there will help you), but Swan/Dolphin would be great choices. I've stayed at the BWV in the past, and they were on our bus route. I like the location. If you have to go non Disney, this would be the way for me. (I KNOW - they're on the property, but they're still non-Disney owned.) There are some very nice moderates that would make a great getaway for the older adults in my family. In that category, I suggest CBR or CSR. I've stayed at all the mods, and these are my two favorites. I know they're spread out, but they're beautiful! The only thing about CBR that might be a let down is if there's a big convention being held during your stay. (Check out the Resorts board: I think that if you go to the CBR thread on that board, there is a link in that thread somewhere to a website or another poast that lists all the big conventions held at CBR.)

If you can stay at SoG, take it!!! It is a beautiful resort! The Swan and Dolphin are great, but they have extra resort fees that are charged to you!!!!
CBR is very nice, but not my favorite moderate; we are just partial to the CSR.

Gaylord Palms is an incredible resort, but that would be my last choice...I like all of the benefits of staying on property!!!

Have a great trip!!!!
