well, the last two polls i did about DVC points season you normally travel, and months DVCers tend to go to WDW provided some interesting, and possibly conflicting results.

according to the points season poll, the majority of DIS DVCers try to maximize their DVC points by going during the cheapest points season (Adventure), which would lead me to think that most DIS DVCers try to vacation during off-peak times.
however, the other poll indicated that a lot of DIS DVCers do in fact travel during traditional WDW general Peak times!

so now i've drafted this poll for those of us who are always trying to avoid using up an extra paid vacation day by planning vacations around paid holidays instead. ;)

please vote for which holidays you take off from work to go on WDW DVC vacations?

i based the choices on what holidays the New York Stock Exchange observes.
because of that, and because Polls only allow a maximum of 10 choices, there is one Federal holiday that i left out:

Columbus Day - Second Monday in October.

so, if anyone happens to travel during Columbus Day, since you can't vote in the poll, please reply to this thread to "vote" for Columbus Day.

thanks everyone!

(btw, if you didn't vote on my previous polls, you can click on the links above and vote if you want.)

I tried voting but it doesn't like nothing being checked. Since I don't go on ANY holidays My answer would be NONE.

Martin Luther King day for me. Not that I plan it that way. We've just always gone the last two weeks of January and I would take that day whether it was a paid day off or not.

The last two weeks of January are our time to escape the cold New England weather.

We have gone several times on both New Years and Labor Day. We will be burning a few points this year because we have to travel the last week of August, thus missing the September points!

Leaving this sunday I can hardly wait!!
For us here in Mobile tues is Mardi Gras and most businesses and schools are closed. So its our favorite holiday to go to Disney. (And we get to get away from the madness;)

This july will be our 4th 0n the 4th annual trip.I went for xmas and new years and a few of the other times through out the season. We like going during the summer so we can enjoy going to the water parks and staying poolside. We dont have to go into the parks all the time because we go twice every year.Within 18 moths i spent 6 weeks in disney. After july i will be going in dec for a family trip.

We like going during President's week, mainly to get away from the Ohio cold

. Plus DW is a teacher and is off that friday and monday, and takes a few personal days. We also go during the 4th of July

in the summer.

MLKB, LD and VD all fall in off season - Jan, Sept and the first two weeks of December - and I mean off season.

Memorail Day is also kind of off season.

the only ones I would avoid are the Christmas-NY and the Easter block - because of the higher point cost.

Before I had kids, I worked in a bank..which closed for Columbus Day..so that was the week my husband and I always went.
His office works Columbus Day so we try to schedule our trips so as NOT to fall then b/c of crowds, but we always used to go then.
Now we avoid ALL holidays.

Just remember that although these are Federal holidays, some of us unfortunately do not get them off. I only get 5 of those you listed-I don't get MLK day, Pres. day, Good Friday, Labor day, or Veterans day. Many schools around here have classes on Memorial Day, I don't only because our school is over. So just remember that when assessing the poll. Not everyone gets all Federal Holidays. Where I work, we get NO three day weekends.

Add in Columbus Day for the 3rd year out of the last five -already voted for Christmas, New Year and Easter. Only one more year to worry about going when kids are out of school then can try the less points time.

hey, cool! thank you to the moderator who added extra choices so people can vote for Columbus Day + None! :)
(btw, when was that change made? i didn't notice until now... and probably the poll results are skewed a little 'cause before you couldn't vote for those two)

now, if only the Poll system would allow us to make Polls where people can rank things in order... like a favorite to least favorite type of thing.

In the past we have booked our WDW vacations around Columbus Day wknd.
Last year we got stuck at the last min and we ended up at Disney over Thanksgiving wknd, not by choice.

We tend to avoid the holidays all together. Since we know that is when a lot of people have to go (for school reasons etc.) it is best for us to avoid them.

Our two favorite times to go are October when the weather is great and most kids have just started school and early to mid December when we get the feelings of the holidays without the crowds.

We did make a quick un-planned weekend trip to Disneyland over Memorial Day a couple of years ago. Fun but crowded so I don't think we'll do that again.

YES!

the two weeks before December are not consider holiday - but are very, very popular with DVC members.

Sorry disneyberry, none of the Canadian holidays are listed ;) but if they were, it would be my vote for Victoria Day - 3rd Monday in May - week before your Memorial Day

Thanks
jaysue

I try to avoid the holidays like the plague. This year however we will be staying at Yatch club- not a DVC trip- over the July 4th holiday,(GMC award trip, dates not my choice) and I'm looking forward to it while somewhat dreading it at the same time. I don't do crowds very well.
