Which half to aim for???

Hey everyone. I'm new here, and to running, and have been doing Jeff Galloways 5k plan in order to run the Halloween 5k. So far so good! I have been doing it for a couple months now and am doing 30min twice a week a 3 mi weekend without a problem.

So now I have decided to go for it and do a half marathon. Here is my question: which one?? The Galloway plan for the marathon weekend events starts Aug 30, which I think I could do since I can run/walk 3 mi, where it starts. But judging from the plan for last year, it looks like the Princess plan would start the second of October, right after I finish the Halloween 5k, so that seems like it could work well.

So, if you had to pick, would you do the Donald Half, find a friend and do the Chip and Dale, or give yourself a little more time and do the Princess? Thanks!!!

Definitely the Princess. It was my first race, and I think having the extra time helps a lot. The only advantage of the WDW Half is that this year has the Anniversary medal, but I would still go for the Princess. It just has an atmosphere that is great for a first timer.

I'd do the Donald. You get a one-of-a-kind anniversary medal, a huge group to run with, and tons of people cheering for you all weekend long.

I did both Donald and Princess this year, I'd say totally go with Donald, crowd support is much better and it's a bigger race. I feel that race was put together a little better, more organized, though both were very good.

I vote Donald. Marathon weekend is a bigger deal, and the logistics for a participant are easier--you can stay at any resort and make it to the race and expo, versus just a designated few. It's also a cheaper time of year hotel-wise.

I wouldn't suggest Chip/Dale since--and I don't know your race expectations--you don't need the added pressure of thinking too much about your time and/or your partner.

Princess can be fun (I've been a spectator), but the atmosphere and support for Marathon weekend is great.
