We are staying one night at the Contemporary before a week at OKW. Our first day we are going to MK and will be taking a mid day break for dd for us to check in and dd to nap. I want to go to the grocery store but I am not sure which one? We are looking at lots of basics for a family of 3 - we have a full kitchen. Don't mind spending a little over to save time but nothing too crazy!!

This is all depending on Frances too

Thanks in advance

We did a grocery stop and I think I can tell you how I got there but not actual street names. We left Downtown Disney from the Disneyquest end and turned left towards the other side of Downtown Disney. We stayed on that major road and passed a bunch of hotels. SHortly after we came to a shopping center. (I think it was under 3 or 5 miles) We call them strip malls here in Washington. It included a grocery store called Goodings (I looked at my credit card statmeent to get the name of the store) It was a grocery store with a bit higher prices but we got everything we wanted such as lunch meat, snacks, pop and water. They had meats and other groceries you find in a Safeway type of store too. My husband even found a fanny pack there since we couldnt find his at home before we left. And that was only $10 so not everything was over priced.

There is a Publix on 192. Head south from Disney and west on 192. It seems a long way but it is really not more than 10 minutes. It is a nice, large store.

There is a Super Walmart on 192, same distance but going east. It is very near the Knight's table or something of that nature.

There is also a WinDixie in the area of the Publix but for the life of my, I can't remember where just now.

You will find a lot of smaller stores in the very built of sections of 192 but there is little selection and higher prices. If you go just a little farther, the stores are great. Produce is wonderful. Selection is marvelous. Prices aren't bad.

I will dig out more details if you want. Just remember that Publix and WinDixie are their major grocers.

We like to go to Winn-Dixie instead of Goodings (lots cheaper).

Like the previous poster, I don't know the street names, but instead of driving straight ahead to Goodings, you turn left and go down about a mile or two and it will be on your right.

Don't forget to sign up for a W-D card as you can save additional $$.

by Little Lake Bryan and the Premium Outlet Mall. The Publix address is:
Regency Village Shopping Center (Store #00812)
8145 Vineland Ave
Orlando, FL 32821-6847
Main: (407) 238-9924
Fax: (407) 238-4650
Map to Publix

Here's a map to the Premium Outlet which is right next door. I actually think this map is a little easier to understand.

I wouldn't recommend going to Goodings (at Crossroads) unless you just need convenience. We have found the store to be very high priced, especially since it's not a very nice store. They can only charge those prices because they're so close to WDW.

HTH!

We go to the Super Walmart on 192. An earlier poster gave you directions to Publix, if you follow the directions to Publix, at the lights, take a left onto 192 and it's down a bit on the right.

I was just there on August 20th (also at OKW) and paid $5 for a 24 pack of spring water, the same water at Goodings was $10.99!

If you have a car and don't mind a little drive, it definitely will save you lots of money.

Have a great trip!

We went to Publix when we were at Disney in May. Good selection and prices.

I think I may try Super Wal-Mart next time around, though I have heard (maybe on this board?) that it is the most crowded and least appealing WallyWorld around, due to the fact that they are always busy and the place always looks like a dump.

It is usually buzzing in that Super WalMart, but they have great prices. Depending on what you need, and how much you are getting, if you have a Sams Club card - follow the same path to Super WalMart - it will be on your left side of the road, and before you get to Super WalMart. That said, I'm thinking of trying the Winn Dixie next time, it is closer, seems to have less traffic...

From the exit of Old Key West - turn right and follow that street to the end. Turn right, then stay in the left lane. You will curve onto Hotel Plaza Blvd. The next major intersection is 535.

For Goodings - go straight.

For Winn Dixie turn left and it will be less than 5 miles down on your right.

For Super WalMart or Sams Club turn right. Go a few miles down to the intersection of 192. Turn Left. It is a few more miles down from there.
