Looking to rent DVC points to stay in a 3 bedroom Villa. Contemplating spending the money for Bay Lake Tower versus spending literally half to stay at Old Key West. Staying Sunday to Sunday for 7 nights. Pros and Cons of each. Is the location worth the cost? TIA.

Location is not worth the difference. Location only helps when going to the MK.

The GV at OKW is ~2400 sq ft. Larger than my house.

The animal kingdom gv was pretty reasonable for the amount of points they cost (it's less than BLT).

We haven't actually stayed there yet (just have it booked), but it also looks pretty unique looking at the savanah.

Make sure you don't respond to any private messages offering you points to rent or a spec rental. That's how people get taken. The OKW GV has two bedrooms upstairs and one is smaller than the other. The smaller one has two double beds instead of two queen beds. Depending on when you want to stay, you may need to book exactly at 11 months out.

RIV and BWV are the only 2 that have GV’s and you would have to bus to 2 parks. BLT and VGF you can walk to the MK, but are very pricy. Me personally, with the short hours at the parks an limited attendance, it doesn’t bother me to take a bus to all the parks. We recently stayed in a GV at OKW. It was very nice and spacious. It’s not as high end as others, but for the price for 2,375 sq feet it’s really nice. It’s the third largest at WDW. VGF is the largest followed by RIV. RIV only has 3 bathrooms though, huge error by DVC if you ask me.

I’ve stayed in GVs at BWV,BLT, OKW, and Kidani. They each have their advantages. It’s all personal preference.

As pp said, it is all person preference.

It depends on what you´re looking for. OKW is a lovely resort with a huge GV for less points than the other ones. When I am deciding which resort, I look at what the resort has to offer in terms of restaurants and the atmosphere and design of the resort and rooms. I loved Jambo´s GV interior, but felt caged into the resort since there were not walking paths compared to OKW or other places.

If you are spending a lot time at MK, then that would be a good choice because of the location. We don´t care for the resort, so we would choose CCV for their GV instead of BLT.

My advice is to look at a lot of pictures of both of the resorts you want and see which one speaks to you.

Thanks for responses, I've discovered that BLT and AK (Kidani) have the pullout sofas on the second floor which we are going to utilize. Wont have to have someone sleeping in the living room. We are going to opt for one of those two whichever is available when we are ready to book at 7 months out.

OMG I hear you there! I've been the person sleeping the common area way too often in life.
Can't go to sleep successfully until the last person goes to bed.
Then people sitting in the kitchen in the morning trying to be quiet and whispering.
I appreciate the effort but...
I always tell them that when I wake up not to acknowledge I exist or they may stop to exist. Haha.
One "Well good morning, Sunshine!" and they can swap places the rest of the trip and i'll take the bedroom.

For those who need to use the sleeper sofa - If you can swing the extra points, the GV at the Grand Floridian has the media room, which can be used as a 4th bedroom (and can have it's own dedicated bathroom). It's an amazing suite!

Well in my opinion, having a pool table room that no other grand villa has like the Jambo AK GV makes that the best GV, and I have never stayed in a GV yet. The GF media room is nice for the GF GV, but the pool table is the really only extra out of all of them aside from location IMO.

Likewise the unique dedicated media room makes VGF special. I can imagine between sleeping on the couch in the communal room in most grand villas or instead being able to close a door and have some privacy I know what I’d prefer if you have a lot of guests.

I’m full on board with pool table that sounds so fun for a group. Wrong coast , but Grand Cal also has a pool table. Woot.

OKW by a long shot. It’s not a lot more than a two bedroom. It has two floors for an extra large living room ceiling. There is a reason they are always taken by OKW owners.
