We are heading to WDW in August and my DH and DS's want to play golf. I have a few questions. Which is the best one to play? We are staying at the AKL, how would they get to the course? I don't golf but if I want to tag along in the cart, can I and would they charge me for riding?

Thanks for the help.

My husband has golfed them all many times. He's a decent golfer (8 handicap) so he likes Osprey Ridge, Magnolia and Palm. Lake Buena Vista is an easier course.

If staying on property with a tee time reservation, resort guests get complimentary taxi transportation. Just go to bell services to arrange.

I don't know if they allow ride alongs. Us non golfers go to the spa!!!

You might want to warn him that it will be ridonkulously hot in August & if he's going to golf, he should make the earliest possible tee time.

My husband golfed at Oak Trail because it was free with the WPF&M option. He enjoyed it.

Thanks for the info. I am sure that they will go out early. As for me I was thinking of the spa thing. I know they have the services at AKL. Something to look into.

DH golfed the Magnolia last April. He really enjoyed it. I also road along. I believe it cost me $10.00 to ride along. I took pictures & enjoyed the wildlife. We saw gators & wild turkeys amoung others. I definately agree with booking an early tee time. Even in April it got really hot by noon. Allow 3-4 hours to play 18 holes. Cab fare & club rental is free for resort guests.

I have played them all many times. They are all great courses and well maintained. If I rated them it would be LBV, Osprey Ridge, Magnolia and Palms. Magnolia and Palms are where the PGA Tournament is played and are near the MK. LBV fits me best as a 16 handicapper it winds through the Old Key West and Saratoga Springs Resorts. For me, Palms is the most difficult. Most gators are on Palms. Osprey Ridge has the most natural setting (nature wise) with no roads or tourist stuff around it. I have seen deer, ospreys, gators, eagles, wild turkeys and all sorts of animals on it. I have not been charged for a ride along when there was not a complete foursome. Enjoy

My DH is quite a good golfer and likes to golf on Palms and Magnolia. Not sure how good your group is, but any of the WDW courses would be considered nice.

Also suggest the earliest tee time possible.

Last time we went my husband golfed his first time. He is a pretty good golfer. He shoots in the 70"s and sometimes will do a 80 or 82 on a not so good day. However he did not want to go and BLOW up on a coarse and not really enjoy it. So we chose the Osprey...and in all real it was not challenging as he had expected. In fact he shot a 78 and on a new coarse that he had never been to that is good for him. So if you really want to challenge yourself I would choose Palm or Magnolia. I road with him and I am pretty sure there was a small charge for me...I think maybe $15 or so. We too saw deer, turkey and an eagle!!! We also had a picture taken with Golf Mickey!

Thank you to all for the replies. I am actually excited that I can probably ride along with the my DH and DS's. I didn't know about all the wildlife that can be seen and to see Golfer Mickey, how cool!

I am an interested but not an avid golfer. My fiancee and I are traveling to WDW in July for our honeymoon, we had planned to play 9 holes at the Oak Trail, but learned from the Disney Golf folks this weekend that the course is going to be closed while we are down there. I cant find any information if this is a closed for now thing or if it will in fact be closed for tree planting?

If not...anyone have a good suggestion for an alternate course? Like I said...we are not good golfers and dont want to ruin the honeymoon with the unwelcome feeling a novice can often get on the course?

Should try some of the courses on the resort communities like Celebration. Its like $6 a round these days. Very cheap.
