... that it is true that it depends how much you give out your address. Also, if you have your own website and add your address on there so that ppl can contact you then 'spiders' will find it on their daily searches through the web and start sending you spam... there are ways and means around this apparently, I can help you out on this if you have a web site, just PM me... I've never done it myself on my sites tho! (But I know what you *need* to do!)
Just another tip, should you get spam mail, your best option is to 'block' that address, or if possible, domain. Yahoo and Hotmail do have these options so if you use them, look out for them. Never, and I mean *never* use a link in a spam mail claiming to be an 'unsubscribe' option unless you are sure you asked for the email in the first place (i.e. if you ask a certain company to send you update emails and they do and then you decide you don't want them any more, you can probably quite safely use their unsubscribe option...) but if the original email is unsolicited then clicking on an unsubscribe link at the bottom of it, or emailing a supposed unsubscribe address will only *add* to your problems. Once a spam mailer gets a response that you want to unsubscribe, they then know your email account is active and proceed to send you more emails and sell your address on!!
Hope this helps, PM me with any questions!
