Hi, I am going to make a reserrvation(If I can) for a Fantasmic Package for dec. as soon as my window opens up. Which restaurant do you like best? Prime Time, Mama Melrose or Hollywood & Vine?

I do like 50s Prime Time, but unfortunately they do not offer Fantasmic dinner packages. I've been to Mama Melrose once before and have the package booked for my upcoming trip. It seems to get mixed reviews. I had a very pleasant experience - the service was great and the food was good (not incredible, but better than decent), so I was willing to go back with the package. I haven't heard many good things about Hollywood & Vine, although I have never tried it myself. Brown Derby is the third restaurant to offer the package, but it is 2 TS credits.

MM was pretty good. Decent food and i actually enjoyed the view from the reserved seating, despite being all the way over to the right.

thanks, I thought prime time was included so I think I will try Mama Melrose since we are doing a couple of other buffets. Thanks!:goodvibes

Mama Melrose I'd say... but I'm not into fancy food like at Brown Derby. Hollywood and Vine I asked about this the other day people told me that the food is mediocre but its better than no fantasmic package. Unfortantley at 180 +10 days out thats all that was left for my stay....

Mama Melrose is what I'm hoping for since we love Italian food. Its all in what kind of food you like. Do you like approachable food, Italian food, or higher edge food?

Well - I had "Done" H&V Dinner buffet about 4 times... once as a F! Package...

I am one of the minority who enjoyed this restaurant....Primarily because with Family of Five.... Me and DH (wanting something good) DS (somewhat picky), DD1 (VERY Picky) and DD2 (was vegetarian 'that year').

AND it worked for us...everyone got a lot of food they enjoyed and all were full... We got our money's worth PLUS LESS wait time for F!.

A few weeks ago, DS and I went back and I had HBD F! package...just so I could try it. I REALLY wanted to like it more than I did. I really think I enjoyed the H&V food more than HBD. I know that sounds crazy. Maybe I just was not that hungry (we did Primetime at 12n....and HBD ressies were at 4:15pm) I somewhat enjoyed DS's Tuna appy...didn't care for my crabcake (DS did like that). My filet was not that tasty..... DS's chicken looked dry... I didn't try it. DS RAVED about his dessert....some banana, toffee thing. I tried the grapefruit cake and REALLY expected to LOVE it and really didn't.

I'll try HBD one more time if I do the Imagineer Dining package.

BUT I really want to try Mama Melrose. That's the other of 3 choices.

Dismail me if you have questions... but above all.. I DEFINITLY recommend F! dining package. Even in our May visit... folks were lining up HOURS before... and DS and I got at least THREE more attractions in before walking in to our F! seating... (Which is Great seating... never had a bad seat!) so IMHO...time is money...and I never have 2 weeks at WDW...so time is very valuable to me... getting 3 attractions in was well worth the dinner....

Hugs
Mary

I find this decision to sort of fall out by setting priorities.

1. If you are on the DP are you willing to spend one or two credits. If 2 then Brown Derby.

If you are spending 1 DP credit then decide if you want a buffet or to be served the entire meal. H&V is the buffet option and Mama Melrose is the served option.

I've done both H&V and Mama Melrose. We liked both and in general I prefer the range of options of a buffet. Keep in mind with the Fantasmic package an appetizer is included at Mama Melrose. I had a salad, eggplant entree and can't recall my dessert. We found the salmon to be especially good at H&V.

Excellent suggestions/thoughts. I am going to try for MM and if we don't get it we will be standing in the main entrance line eating our CS meals!! We have never seen this show before so I am really excited to finally see it!:cool1:

I missed out on the fantasmic dinner package for september. Any suggestions to get in on a cancellation?

It's a matter of personal taste, expectations and preferences. We've done them all. You could not pay us to eat at H&V ever again; Brown Derby did not impress and definitely not worth two credits per person; we've had four great meals at Mama Melrose with outstanding service.

Call 45 days out from your desired reservation that is the cancellation no penalty on vacation packages so people may cancel then.

I called 180 + 10 for my reservation and all that was left betweeen sept 19 - september 30 was Hollywood and Vine
