Which exit for Disney World Gate?

We need some help. We planned a surprise trip to disney world and do not want our kids to know until we see the gates. I know there are many different ways to enter the resort so, which one has the very least amount of hype before you reach the entrance. We are driving from Wisconsin and somehow manage to find a different way into disney grounds all the time! Hopefully this makes sense. I know there is a somewhat "rural" way in because we happened upon it once before but I cannot remember how I got there. I would appreciate any help.

It depends on which way you will come down. If you use I75 get to the FL turnpike and then to SR429. Take that to Hertzog Road. That will bring you in Western Way with the WDW gate. Then follow Western Way to Buena Vista Blvd and to all guest areas.

I would agree this would be the route to go - a couple of things though - on 429 you can see the Contemporary, Space Mountain and other Disney buildings in the distance - very cool for us -- but if the kids aren't real familiar with Disney property or watching a movie they would not necessarily notice.

This entrance onto Disney property does have the arch signs - but brings you in along the side of Coronado Springs and the back of AK. Not super Disney noticeable.

Thank you for the replies. Based on the descriptions it sounds like the exact route I was looking for. We had been that way once before but it was a fluke we had went that way so we couldn't quite remember how to get there! It will be perfect, with a movie timed just right, hopefully the kids won't notice a thing till we get to the gate. Again, thanks!

Add me to the list of 429 supporters. How old are the kids? There is a sign on the 429 that notes the Disney exit. But nothing like I-4. And I agree with the other poster who mentioned being able to see the Contemporary, ToT, etc from the expressway. If they dont know what they're looking for, they probably wont notice it.

Great idea on the suprise!

Thanks again. Yeah, I remembered seeing the Contemporary, etc but from what I remembered, they were somewhat off in the distance. Our bigger challenge will be when we actually get into Florida and start seeing all the Disney advertisement signs. We told the kids we were visiting Aunt Lucille in Georgia so we'll probably just have to inform them that since Georgia is right by Florida, Disney does a lot of advertising in Georgia also. The kids are 8 & 7 and I think I can pull this off because I don't believe they suspect a thing, so they won't be looking around for Disney landmarks!

How fun!!!

It's great to surprise the kids isn't it? Last year we couldn't surprise the kiddies about a WDW trip since they're both teens, but we did have them convinced that we'd be staying at the All Stars they didn't realize we were actually staying at the CR until we passed through the MK toll plaza.
