Taking advantage of EE ( for onsite guests ) is a bonus , & we certainly want to make use of this perk...But an early rise each day is tiring. So now that all 4 parks have EE ( or EMH ) , which of them is not that useful and can be ommitted ?Certainly not MK but what about the other 3 : A.K? MGM ? EPCOT ?

Your opinion on which EE to skip ??

Ok, for what it's worth, here is my opinion...

I found that EMH at MGM was much worse than regular opening. Now, granted this was in July, but when we went, we were AT OPENING, AT ROPE DROP, ran to TOT and when we got off it, it was a 45 minute wait for RnRC already (it was only 8:30am). That park was SOOOO crowded that morning, much worse than a regular morning.

Also, AK seems to pick up alot of people for EMH and the only two major things open are Bug and the Safari. I wouldn't do it again on EMH. The people were backed up to the ticket booths at 8:15am, but when we finally did get in, we walked right on to Bugs Life, which means that everyone else went to the Safari! Oye!

The only EMH I love is MK, because I have kids and we can zip through Fantasyland in 20 minutes!

I have never done Epcot EMH.

That is my story and I am sticking to it! ;)

We tried EMH at the Studios this summer. We only got to ride TOT and RNR one time each and that area was very crowded in that hour.

We have not done EMH at AK or Epcot, but our famiy agrees that the only EMH we will do in the future is at MK.

Hi zahi,

The Unofficial Guide research team has literally thousands of pieces of data measuring the effect of EMH on each park at different times of the year. If I were to summarize that collection of data, I'd say something like:

:wave2: EMH at the MK is almost certainly a good idea. You'll probably save about an hour of standing in line.
:wave2: EMH at the Studios is probably a good idea.
:wave2: EMH at Epcot is optional. If you really like Epcot, or you need the time to do a comprehensive tour, EMH is a good idea. Otherwise, sleep in.
:wave2: EMH at the AK is probably not a good idea.

Forgive my gratuitous use of smileys. I've grown to love them lately. For the above, I've assumed that you'll be doing a comprehensive tour of each park. YMMV if that's not the case.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Len

Dear Lentesta :

Thanks to you & other members for their insight into this "mini-dilemma".

One question though : What is the meaning of YMMV ?

Zahi

P.S : I have read all of Bob Sehlinger's unofficial guide 2004 and love the scientific approach with the twist of humour !! Keep up the good work !

Our family has their own theory. We never go to the park that has the EE. We find that park to be more crowded because more people start theiir day their. :Pinkbounc

Hi zahi,

Thanks very much for reading the Unofficial Guide!

YMMV = "Your Mileage May Vary." That is, your specific situation might be such that EMH doesn't help. Suppose you're visiting Epcot with your soon-to-be-ex-boyfriend and his mom. If mom won't go on Test Track or Mission:Space because it'll mess up her new beehive hairdo, there's little point in going to Epcot for EMH. This is because the other attractions open for EMH (Universe of Energy and Spaceship Earth) can be experienced with little wait during non-EMH days. So the "YMMV" is there as a caveat.

That being said, many folks, especially first-time vistors, tend to do fairly comprehensive tours of the parks, often with mid-day breaks. For them, my original advice is generally valid.

If you'd like to post more details about your plans (e.g., this is your first trip, you're staying for seven days, everyone in your family is up before the sun rises, etc.), we can make more specific recommendations, I'm sure.

Feel free to drop me an e-mail (testa@ncat.edu), too, if there's anything else I can help with for your trip.

Sincerely,

Len

Len--That's too funny. :rotfl: :rotfl: It's good to see you on the boards again and giving your always invaluable advice.

Zahi--I think Epcot's EMH is the least advantageous, but it may depend which attractions are your top priority. I like doing the Day After approach to touring. We go to a park the day after it has had EMH. Presumably so many people were there the day before that the crowds will be lighter. I also made PS's for AK and MK restaurants on non-EE days BEFORE the park opened. We got in early, and as soon as we finished eating we were able to walk on the rides.
