Which DVC would you sell

We purchased at multiple resorts since there are 10-12 of us that vacation together and we love the Grand Villas. For years that we decide to cruise or do not need the extra points we always loved the flexibility of DVC to rent ot transfer excess points. With the new potential changes if you find yourself with to many points and need to sell off contracts which DVC resort would you sell? A lot of people that do not think they have a problem may depending on the definition of "pattern" of renting. I am getting peoples opinions in case I need to sell a contract. I hate to lose SSR because we think it is a great resort and lose the extra years but it is so difficult to get into the other resorts for Grand Villas unless you have the 11 month window. I do not want to rely on transfers each year.

This is a tough question. I really don't think the changes being made are really going to hurt anyone significantly.....maybe the rent for profit owners. This is my opinion and only because you will more than likely still be able to rent extra points and BWV and BCV are the most demanded properties so unloading extra points may be easier. The new rule changes being made are to enhance DVC members ability to get ressies....is this true? So if you tranfer and/or rent every now and again there really shouldn't be a problem, I would assume. This past UY I had an extra 100 points that I just rented, hopefully I will not lose this ability in the future......

Hilton Head. (I own at SSR, BCV, OKW, and HHI and have NEVER done a transfer... who knows?)

However, I was disappointed with HH. "Mickey Magic" didn't make up for bad location for me. (If I go on a beach vacation being at least NEAR the beach is good)

If you like to stay primarily in GV, then I suppose, I would sell BCV and VWL just for the reason that they don't have them. I would take my chances about getting into BCV and VWL when/if I want to go there.

I chose SSR only because it's so big that I think I'll be able to get a ressie whenever I want in. I also own BCV but would never sell because I'd lose home resort advantage.

But the GV in SSR are absolutely gorgeous. If you are a GV kind of person, then I definately would take a pp advice and get rid of one of the resorts that don't have GV. You can do 1 transfer each year though. I wouldn't sell any of them. Just transfer out your points. I couldn't bring myself to sell any of them.

As far as I can tell the only changes made are that they are chosing to enforce the rules where they used to overlook them. I can't see any reason to sell any of my DVC points. Besides, both of my contracts are at the same home resort (OKW).

I voted Beach Club, since you would still have the Boardwalk for an Epcot location. Just a personal preference, but I like the Boardwalk better. And while the points are incredibly high, you still have the option of a grand villa if desired. I would definitely hang on to both Vero and HH, since those seem to be more difficult to get into during peak season.

I voted BCV. It is in the same location as BWV and doesn't have as may reservation options (GV's, Std. View, BW view). It is also fetching a very handsome sum right now!

...of course if you love the resort, SAB, the dedicated 2 bedroom w/2 queens or close parking then forget my advise and go with HHI.

I would get rid of the offsite ones either HH or VB.

why - because if DVC has to sell off any of these - those would be on the hitting block first.

probably HH - I like the GV - Beach Cottages at VB better.

We presently have a small contract up for sale with a broker for VWL that we don't seem to need anymore.

If we had to sell for financial reasons, BCV would be it because of the price it's getting on resale. We own at both BCV and BWV and eventually may sell one or the other to double our points at one resort, but right now I like the flexibility of being able make reservations at both places at 11 months.

I do wish, however, that I had points at SSR or OKW so that I could get a GV once in 3 years and bring some friends. Someday....... college tuitions are looming ahead for us starting next year so no more ad-ons for awhile.

I'm thankful that we bought our original points and our add-on when we did.

And we didn't buy with the intention of renting and considered doing so only when we had to cancel a reservation or had lots of unused points. We won't be renting anytime soon.

I'll also be a lot more stingy with my points going forward since asking for help from other DVC members for a small transfer (to make up the difference for a longer reservation at one or the other resort) ....is going to be much tougher if not impossible going forward. I already had that experience this week when I got caught in the middle of finalizing a trip short 3 points.

Except that one of those resorts has as many members as the other 3 put together. You really would have to have a denominator to come to any conclusions. The only two possible options would be the ownership mix of this board or the ownership mix of all of DVC. Of course the question really is too general to truly answer the question with any conviction for most owners unless most of the voters own all of the resorts.

For Financial Reasons (or For Real or Imagined Changes to the DVC that I didn't like):
1) SSR
2) VB
3) BCV
4) BWV
5) OKW
6) VWL

Because I was afraid the DVC was gonna sell, or 'outsource' resorts:
1) VB
2) HHI <==== If I ever purchase it
3) SSR
4) OKW
5) BCV
6) BWV
7) VWL

Because they announced the MONORAIL DVC!!!! (and DW won't let me spend anymore money on new DVC purchases)

If I were to give up a resort it would have to be ..... BWV. I would keep....

OKW for the GV (lower points to book a GV and not only are you giving up a "resort " you are giving up the " points" that are connected to the resort)
and Lake Buena Vista Golf course.

BCV for the pool, Epcot right in your back yard.

VWL for the thanksgiving , christmas and just that cozy woodland feelings.

SSR for the DTD & Lake Buena Vista Golf course and GV.

VB for the beach

HHI ( have not been there yet)
