Hi everyone!
We are planning on renting points for our May 2017 trip. We rented a 2 bedroom for our last trip at OKW. We had a great experience renting points.

This trip is just me, my husband, our daughter who will be 6 and son who will be 4 so, we are planning on a studio. We will be there for 5 days. Would love some opinions on which DVC Studios you like best for our family of 4 with little ones. FYI, though we would love to stay at the Polynesian, it is way more than we would like to spend and we are not interested in OKW or SSR.

Any opinions are appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Give some thought to a savanna view at AKV - Kidani. My 5 year old niece and nephew really enjoyed watching the animals from the Balcony and the Kidani pool slides and play area were also a big hit.

If you'll mostly be in the MK, consider BLT - you can walk to the MK and/or take the monorail back & forth. The studios there are smaller than the other DV resorts, but since your two are still small, you should be fine.

Note that at BLT they will be sharing a bed. If that's a concern.

(In our family no one ever wants to share with my youngest. She generally ends up rotating 90 degrees at a minimum in any given bed, steals the covers, and throws all the pillows off the bed. IN HER SLEEP.)

Haha, we each usually sleep with one when on vacations. So no concerns about bed sharing. Thanks!

First you need to check what is still available. I just booked two studios for May and some places were booked up as far as studios. And my opinion is that BLT studios are way small for four. My DH and I stayed in one and it was tight with just us. If you can get Poly they are huge and beautiful and have a fantastic location. VWL would be nice too...boat over to MK. AKv are one of my faves but only close to AK. I think you may have trouble getting BWV and BCV (we grabbed last BCV studio for end of May dates...BWV might have pool/garden view studios open some days). Let me go check....BRB...

You are so helpful! Thank you for so much info and for checking! We would LOVE Poly, but it is a bit more $$.

I have read this before, where people say a studio was small for even just 2. What exactly does that mean? How so? We are a family of 5, and while there isn't always ample storage options for clothing, we have found studios to be great. I'm baffled how it wouldn't be big enough for 2 people? With that said, I have not stayed at BLT yet. I do agree that while Poly is a bit more, it is well worth it for the 2nd bathroom alone :)

Because the BLT studios are much smaller than the others.

BLT is smallest studios. They are like a cruise ship cabin...almost. The resorts vary in size and even layout, not all studios are the same. Poly is the largest, then OKW...at WDW. HHI has large rooms too. SSR, BWV, VWL and BCV are very similar to each other.

Hmmm...the size of BLT studio is concerning..well, heres hoping there is some availability at BCV or BWV for a studio. Not sure I can convince DH to splurge on Poly. I like the AK idea but would prefer MK or Epcot resort. Thanks everyone!

BLT only sleeps 4, so not a option for our family. But I couldn't imagine it being too small for just DH and I. I'm just always dumbfounded by people who say a poly studio is too small. We found it plenty big considering how much we use the resort itself and park time. JMHO :)

There is a lot more availability than I expected but some resorts and/view types are spotty. They changed the tracker thing on the member website again and now it's hard to look at a whole month. And it is very slow to load so I can't be exact for you. But I will say the sooner you can get solidified the better.

It'll be during Flower and Garden, so the monorail would be nice :) Maybe he'll go for that~!

I liked it for DH and I and I love the layout, but I would never stay with others in there. Maybe one small child, like under age six. We just stayed at BWV in a studio, DH and I plus my twin girls aged 17. That was a bit tough. Remember that it's one real bed and one sleeper sofa. The BWV, VWL, BCV studios...for example...are smaller than regular Disney resort rooms like, say, POR.

Thank you so much for checking! We are going to put in our request tomorrow so we shall see! :)

All great information. Thank you. As my kids get older I am sure we will outgrow certain spaces. Darn, may have to add on more points... lol

If they built BLT more like a cruise ship cabin the smallness might be less of an issue. Storage, especially with the sofa bed out, is a premium. Where they make cruise cabins that have decent underbid storage when extra pullman berths are out, that ends up being a positive.

We've done BLT studio with our DGS (10 at time) and we had no concerns. It was fine for the 3 of us. He's a Lego builder, so we did spend time in the room.

DH and I often stay in a studio at BLT without any problems, but it is only the two of us. It is one of our favorite resorts. We have never gotten anything less than a 1BR for our family members that have two children even then they are small. Kids need a quiet space too. And it helps if they are heavy sleepers than can be moved from mom and dad's king bed to the sofa bed in the living room when mom and dad are ready to go to bed. Although one of our families used two pack 'n plays and the parents and twins all slept in the master bedroom.

We do split stays often in Orlando. Always seems the DVC studio bed is less wide than most lol.

Your kids are still 'little', it's a different story with teenagers and sharing a bathroom whilst trying to get out the door.

How much time do you typically plan on spending 'in' the room? If your focus is on the parks and the amenities of the resort, a studio will serve your purposes.

Another vote for AK-Jambo, not a value as they are smaller. BWV might still be open at this point if looking for that area.
