Request high floor Ewa Tower. You will see Luau and Ocean for an Island/Garden view room. A lot less points.

The "second generation" resorts are the WDW locations built directly after OKW with essentially identical villa layouts: BWV, VWL, BCV, and SSR. AKV broke that mold (thankfully!) particularly at Kidani.
My biggest complaint about the 2nd Gen resorts is that the living area is far too small in the 2BR configuration. Even as a 1BR it's a little tight.

Family of 4 here...owned for 10 years now at BLT..
Have stayed at BLT, OKW, AKV- J, AKV-L, VWL, and BC and Poly(studio)
Hands down - BLT is our fave. Preferably on the ‘outer’ edge with the older kids. The outer Facing rooms have a wider living room, the Facing in rooms have a larger laundry pantry that could fit a pack n play for sleeping which was helpful when we needed that!
The 2 bathrooms wins for us hands down.
AKV-K also has the 2 bathrooms but the hallways are long and we don’t find the location and amenities as beneficial. I also find the rooms SOOO dark. There just are not enough lights! I swear - if we stay there again - I’m amazing myself a bright torch light for that room!
If we aren’t at BLT, we opt for OKW. The rooms are super spacious and the porch is great. Must ask for a room with the bathroom access. The OKW bathroom setup is limiting though - it’s not good for sharing or having 2 people get ready at once now that it’s all glass.
Jambo Value bathroom setup compartmentalizations Do work for sharing the bathroom well - but don’t sleep 5.
We hated the BC 1bedroom - the rooms are small and the bathroom configuration is lousy for sharing.
We would choose a studio at BCV or BWV for our family of 4 over their 1 bedrooms.
The studio at Poly is where we spent the Columbus Day hurricane closure in 2016...Thats a great studio space and technically could sleep 5...the bathroom setup is great For a studio - it was not as convenient as having 2 toilets, but the 2 showers definitely helped. Also - the shower room could fit a pack n play I think which could be really helpful if someone needs dark and quiet!
The 2 bedroom at OKW is DREAMY as well And should not be overlooked if you are in that point catagory - so if that’s in the cards for you - it has everything...2 bedrooms, giant bathrooms, massive porch table, large kitchen, big laundry room... Our family loves the various quiet pools and playgrounds and the short walk from the car to the villa.

i already said just stay in a 2BR there.... I mean BWV 2BR vs a RIV 1 BR?
AKV/BWV/OKW/SSR 2BR over BLT/VGF/RIV 1BR
Again talking about the resorts changes things and the location. Thats not the point of this thread though its just talking about the inside of the room.

See my other post though if you are deciding then you need to account for point costs as well and a 2BR at BWV is going to be cheaper than BLT 1BR.
So even BCV a 2BR is cheaper than a BLT 1BR Theme Park view. BCV 2BR is also only 37 points more for the week vs a BLT 1BR Lake View during the Jan/Sept/Dec point tier.

I notice too that a Three Bedroom Treehouse is cheaper than the preferred view 1BRs at Riviera and Grand Flo. Although the treehouses essentially mandate having a car.

Any of the 1 bdrm resorts with two bathrooms gets my vote. My family happens to like BLT the most, for styling of the resort, and we like that you don't have to walk 1,000,000 miles from the parking lot to get to your room. Especially helpful when you have groceries -- we cook in our villa so we always have groceries to bring up to the room.

But the THV don't have any king sized beds. Only queens and bunks (and a twin sized sleeper chair). Only two bathrooms.

I sooooooo wish the THV had king size beds! For me, it's the lack of a King in the master and the bunkbeds that knock this Villa out of the running. My kids are too old for bunk beds. Is the room with the bunk beds not big enough for 2 twins? IMO two twin beds would make THV better diversified to handle different aged guests.

There are very few MK theme park rooms at BLT and most of the time we stay in a standard room on floor 5 immediately under the theme park rooms for a fraction of the points. We would never stay in the “deluxe/preferred” room locations at any of the resorts - so while the math may be there - it’s still more points to shift for a week and to give up location.
when we stay at BCV or BWV - instead of staying in a 1BR, we stay in studios. The functional bathroom layout is more important to us when it comes to being ready to go to the park in the mornings and evenings than the extra space. A 1bedroom at BC is still less points than a 2 bedroom there - so it’s only when you compare across results that you see the benefits. If my home resort was RIV, or I couldn’t get BLT Standard view - im sure id look at this differently!! I guess that when it comes to points - we tend to spend them differently and opt to spend less than more to have more trips or longer trips in our DVC....maybe our 2021 trip post pandemic surge will be different??
