Which DTD hotel?

We are considering a quick weekend trip to WDW in December for Xmas shopping.

Which resort or hotel is best suited for this purpose??

Because of the quick nature of the trip we will concentrate our efforts in DTD and possibly the boardwalk area.

We do have APs if this makes a difference.

Also, we would consider an off-site hotel with easy access to DTD such as Wyndham. Has anyone stayed there or at anyother close hotel??

I've stayed at the Wyndham in LBV before and it's a very nice hotel. The rooms were nice, clean, large enough and it was only a very short walk to the Disney Marketplace side of DTD. I would certainly stay there again if the need arose.

Avoid the Holiday Inn (used to be the Marriott)
Was there last year and it is in desperate need to an overhaul.
Rooms smelled moldy

All the hotels on Hotel Plaza Blvd. and the Wyndham are "on-site" hotels, just not owned by Disney. I don't think you can go wrong with the Wyndham.

The only one I've stayed at is the Holiday Inn when it was a Marriott. I had no problems there. The Hilton is really close to Downtown Disney.

The Grosvener is a close walk to DTD and nice! If you want to save some money for shopping then I would consider Holiday Inn for the price. The rooms in the middle section were clean and basic. No thrills but good beds and clean.
