port or starboard? and why? Also, front, back or mid ship?

IMHO. Starboard, mid or aft. I prefer it bc when you dock at Castaway Cay you get to see the island. Mid or aft bc you have the least movement noticeable from the water bc of where the stabilizers are beneath the ship.

Port or starboard isn't too important, but I slightly prefer starboard on tropical cruises because that's typically the side of the ship that the fireworks go off. Both views of Castaway Cay are beautiful to me, so that isn't a factor. In Alaska, port and starboard are equal.

I prefer midship, slightly forward, because I'm not a fan of the vibrations you occasionally have to deal with in aft.

I prefer port side because I like seeing the unboarding area at CC. Sometimes we have even been able to hear music they were playing down there up on our veranda. We usually spend the whole day on the island, being one of the last to get back on the ship so it really isn't that important, but I do prefer port.

My only reasoning for preferring forward which is really sort of silly is we spend most nights in the adult area which is aft and I really enjoy the walk back to the room, through shutters, looking down on the quiet empty atrium. Everything is just so peaceful! When we have stayed aft we just got in the elevator and were back at our room. I actually missed the walk. ;) And now that I think of it I like the morning walk to the buffet too, outside along the pool deck.

No preference on Port of Starboard. We prefer mid-ship because then you are never more than a half a ship's length from anything. I am told there is less motion felt there, but on a modern ship with stabilizers, not sure how much a difference there is, and we don't get sea sick. We actually get disappointed if our cruise doesn't include at least a few hours of rough seas.

Forward! After having an aft cabin on the Fantasy and the awful vibrations we will never do aft again. We won't book a VGT just in case.

We review the route the ship will take and determine if we want more water views or land/island views. The stateroom location we prefer is mid-aft, just enough away from the mid-elevators and not too close to the aft vibrations.

We like the larger veranda's so we always stay in the back (aft) of the boat with extended verandas. March will be our 6th cruise and we're in the aft on the side so we'll finally experience a regular sized veranda. DH thinks the front of the ship will be rockier which is why we're still in the aft. If we couldn't get an extended veranda, I'd've liked to be up front so we're closer to the adult area.

Whenever you book the availability always shows the port side first. We had to call to book starboard. We wanted that so we could overlook Castaway Cay from our veranda. We have always wanted to be near, but not too close, to the mid-ship stairs for convenience. We have been on deck 6 twice and deck 2 once. Our next cruise will be deck 10 starboard on the Dream.

We usually like forward and generally travel on the original ships. On the original ships it is up to the adult pool and down to the entertainment. On the newer ships it is up to the adult areas and down to the theater. I have problems with aft during dinner the first night so I try not to stay aft. I have severe motion sickness but it doesn't bother me when I stay forward.

We don't usually choose a cruise to CC so will check the itinerary and then choose port or starboard. We always cruise aft EXCEPT on the Fantasy. One and done. Never again with those horrible vibrations. WORST cruise ever!

Starboard midship is what we prefer, and very often on deck 6 on the older ships.

I concur with the camp that agrees to avoid aft on the Fantasy. (I actually didn't realize this problem was specific to the Fantasy, but the time we sailed Aft happened to be Fantasy and it was absolutely awful).

Sailing GTY on Wonder next month and was praying we don't get assigned an aft room but now that people are commenting about this being a Fantasy-issue I'm less worried (and also curious why this is specific to the Fantasy)
